Breaking - Jeb Bush News Conference -says new medical info (more BS)
Jeb on TV now saying that Adult Protective Services team have just given a review saying that Terri is "misdiagnosed".

She's in a state of minimal consciousness, they say, not a PVS.

Exhausting all executive options. He's doing all within his power to give Terri the same rights that criminals "who have convicted heinous crimes" have.

Urging Florida Senate to take up a bill.

Our "prayers and petitions" are working.

There are no justifications for violent acts <[for those fundies threatening violence against judge, presumably, etc.>]

Yep!

Seriously, neurologists ALL over the world must be just shaking their heads at the sheer ignorance being displayed about this woman.

*I* am and I never went to medical school.

Besides that, Ol' Jebby-Poo don't give a flying rat shit about Schiavo. This is ALL about laying down some vote gettin'.

Jebbie is trumping the courts again. Violation of seperation of powers.

This is the THIRD report of abuse/neglect that they are making. The last time Adult Protective Services refused to investigate because they said it was a ploy.

43. According to that:
In order to be diagnosed as being in a minimally conscious state (MCS):

A. Diagnostic criteria distinguishing VS from MCS

Several diagnostic criteria have been proposed (Giacino et al, 1997; Aspen Neurobehavioral Conference Workgroup, submitted). At least one criterion should be present and occur on a reproducible or sustained basis to diagnose MCS:

1. follows simple commands,
2. gestural or verbal "yes/no" responses (regardless of accuracy)
3. intelligible verbalization
4. movements or affective behaviors that occur in contingent relation to relevant environmental stimulus and are not attributable to reflexive activity.

Well, nope, I have never read anything that has said she can do any of those things. In fact, every doctor who has ACTUALLY examined her has said she is in a persistent vegetative state. She'd HAVE to be, with that much of her brain missing. What is there to GIVE her consciousness, even minimally?

that most people who have been speaking definitively about her condition have not seen her, either.

I also liked the differing descriptions of her supposed current state given by her parents and by a visiting priest. The two were diametrically opposed. Parents said she was fading fast and priest said she was as alert as ever.

You don't know who to believe in this fiasco anymore.
