Words: Iraq Cost (from March 27 to present from shrub minions)
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 07:34 PM by amen1234
nice quotes from NYT today...seems to cover the full range of lies from shrub and his minions....

(not lastest breaking news, but certainly deserves a discussion here)

-snips-

MARCH 27

Paul D. Wolfowitz deputy defense secretary, before the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.

Asked what the "entire package" for rebuilding Iraq might be:

"The real number would be not what's going to get you through the rest of the fiscal year, but what is it going to be over two to three years. And my — a rough recollection — well, I'm — the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years."

-----------------
JULY 29

Mr. Wolfowitz before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee:

"But let's put it in some context. According to some estimates, it cost us slightly over $30 billion to maintain the so-called containment of Saddam Hussein for the last 12 years. And it cost us far more than money. The containment policy cost us American lives; lives lost in Khobar Towers, on the U.S.S. Cole; it routinely put Americans in danger in enforcing the no-fly zones, and it cost us in an even larger way as well."

1. The "war" wasn't about oil then
It's cost well over $100 billion now, and it's only been 5 months.

If it was about oil, then Bushbastard* miscalculated big-time.

However, looking at the issue historically, the "war" is the wrath of Bushbastard* on an entire country just because of the actions of its dipshit leader. The people shouldn't have to suffer because of the idiocy of its leader. (which means the rest of the world isn't going to treat US citizens with much kindness when it revolts.)

Quite frankly, if I knew Bushbastard* was going to destroy the whole country, I would have time travelled back to 1995 or whenever and tell Clinton not to bomb the country after Hussein made his little childlike threat against Poppy Bush.
