"Culture of Life" my ass!
By examining the two cases , it becomes clearer that what the GOP was hoping to gain was more than just an energized fundamentalist core. They were hoping to expand the appeal of their phony new "Culture of Life" branding initiative by tapping into the national hysteria that ensues every time a white female is kidnapped or otherwise publicly endures some extraordinarily invasive trauma. Imagine their dismay to see the results of multiple polls conducted over the last several days which show that most Americans would want their tubes removed were they in Mrs. Schiavo’s position, and that the Congress went way over the line by sticking its nose into the matter.

2. They're trying to pimp Catholic votes
It wouldn't be bad if a prominent Catholic stood up and reminded folks just where W was groveling for support in early 2000: Bob Jones University.
