...Dan is taking a strong stand on the Schiavo case tonight - based on the legal merits.

7. Ever noticed that virtually all right-wing advocacy groups
have two or more of the following words in their names:

American
Family
Children
Concerned
Heritage
Defend/Defense
Values
Protect/Protection
Liberty
Freedom
Christian

So when some blow-dried, glassy-eyed stooge from the Concerned Families Protecting American Values Foundation appears on your teevee to talk about -- well, anything -- you know he will be a right-wing fuckwit of the worst sort.

18. THIS, is why I love DU. For the most part I spend my day having
to "dumb down" to communicate with most of my coworkers (heavy repuke contingent) and then I come here and can get QUALITY analyses like Ocelot's and I get them in QUANTITY too!!

"right-wing fuckwit of the worst sort" Ahh, like a fine wine...

10. Aw, thank you. :)
It struck me when I read it in literature class. I felt the need to jot it down. The entire thing was too long for a sig, so I improvised a bit. :)

11. Please tell me which novel it's from? I read several many years ago;
all science fiction. The ones I remember (only the titles, can't remember much else its been that long, other than I loved reading them) The Left Hand of Darkness, The Disposessed, Always Coming Home...

13. Thank you so much; I'll have to check it out. I didn't know (or had
forgotten) that she wrote short stories.

15. Sadness...Just remembering my youthful naivete when I read hers and
other works years ago makes me nostalgic..a form of sadness. I never thought that the world would end up in the current state tht it is.

16. Yes...this one hit home because of current events.
All about those who are forgotten and suffering in society, and how we shut them away and go on pretending like everything's fine.

Gave me goosebumps.:scared:

19. Your posts have given me goosebumps tonight as have my memories.
I'm feeling that I'm fated to read this story, and maybe I'll try to find her old novels. (Goosebumps in a good way though; not related so much to fear as to ...? don't know, maybe intuition)

20. I haven't read too much of her
outside of class, but her writing does strike a chord in today's society.
