Hey, liberals! "SEIZE, MAINTAIN, AND EXPLOIT THE INITIATIVE" OR LOSE!!

The US military has codified things that work for them. We can steal some of their pragamatism and use it for progressive causes. They've been using psychology as a secret weapon for 100 years and learning from every battle fought how to win the next one.

(Remember the 1979 Army Psychological Operations Manual meant to be used in Nicaragua but which has also been used against the American people, the primary target of White House control?)

NEXT: STRATEGIES TO WIN, COURTESY OF THE US MILITARY.
(Hey, we paid for it. Let's use it!)

In the spirit of 'know thy enemy and use his weaponry against him,' especially when they are winning, consider another military text to see what can be learned from those who fight to 'win' and apply it instead to planning your life and your activism to reversing the advances by fascism in our country.
---------------------------------

The Principles of War

"The Principles of War are frequently mentioned as a valuable, ingrained, check list toward achieving success."

I. Objective - Every military operation should be directed towards a clearly defined, decisive and attainable objective.

II. Offense - Seize, retain and exploit the initiative.

III. Mass - Concentrate combat power at the decisive place and time.

IV. Economy of Force - Allocate minimum essential combat power to secondary efforts.

V. Maneuver - Place the enemy in a position of disadvantage through the flexible application of combat power.

VI. Unity of Command - For every objective, there should be unity of effort under one responsible commander.

VII. Security - Never permit the enemy to acquire an unexpected advantage.

VIII. Surprise - Strike the enemy at a time and/or place and in a manner for which he is unprepared.

IX. Simplicity - Prepare clear, uncomplicated plans and clear, concise orders to insure thorough understanding.
------------------------------------------------

More thoughts:

#1,2,3 - Objective/Offense/Mass - Who do we want to reach and what is our message? Where can you get into their eyes and ears?

Suggestions:

Reach the 'intelligentsia' of media/academia/politicians who have already been misled by the fascists and are doing their bidding actively or passively. From a distance,-email, phone, letters.

Reach the 'masses' of students/shoppers/commuters who are disengaged or misled by using in-person contact-www.freewayblogging.com, pamphleting, rallies, photos of war victims in newspaper boxes, etc.

Use every website thread you can find. DailyKos and others, not just DU.

#4 - Economy of force - I've decided that paying my bills is a 'secondary effort' and must leave lots of time and energy to work for social justice and peace. I use to work 16-hour days for months doing concert tours. No more. Other things are more important and need my time.

#5 - Manuever - Every public event, every politician's appearance, every radio call-in show, every website, every public surface needs to have our messaging there.

#6 - Unity of Command - Hmm. Less applicable. Support the powerful on our side (Boxer, Lee, Conyers, etc.) to steer the Democrats back to the people and support the larger online groups like moveon.org BUT also do your local work. No movements should stumble because of a single personality OR election. Unified purpose with de-centralized actions.

#7 - Security - Unfortunately, DARPA has us all in a database already and the NSA sees all our communications. Fire walls, encryption, cash, 'safe posting', and other techniques to reduce access to your life are in order. If you expose yourself, make it count, ok?

#8 - Surprise - See #5. Think of new venues for messaging. Persistence and cooperation with sympathizers must be nurtured in all of us.

#9 - Simplicity- This is covered in how to be heard in the Psy-Ops manual and the principles of spin and propaganda.
SIMPLE, CLEAR, REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT...

3. Use it in addition to other objections
I argue from a POV that support the war or don't, it makes no difference because it creates more problems than it solves and the incompetence of its execution has created danger as well.

By any means necessary
