If it wasn't political and applying only to one specific person, then
why was it named the "Save Terri" bill?

I mean, the Repukes are trying to say it's a "sanctity of life" bill, but they even refer to it as the "Save Terri" bill, so it really is just about "saving one person" - or grandstanding. Grandstanding really is more likely.

I mean, they've tried 19 times to prove their case, and the courts are not convinced by their "evidence". I would wholly recommend that congress, with full cameras, go down to Florida and see this woman, without the interference of her parents OR her husband. (Makes more sense than trying to subpeona her to testify before Congress).

That way, they can actually see for themselves whether or not she is reacting to "stimuli". They still have time.

The live cameras would have to be there to record exactly everything - the people can see for themselves her "responses", if any.

BTW, I've seen that clip they keep showing - where she blinks because a person touches her head. I also know how many times I have narrowly missed eye damage due to an "involuntary reflex" to something coming near my eye. How many times are you required to make yourself blink?

2. That was the first bill. It didn't get voted on. The second bill
became law and has a different name.

The first bill was a"private bill", in that it was for a single person. I heard that there are all sorts of procedural safeguards to prevent a private bill, so they dropped it for a bill of general applicability to get it done over the weekend.
