Could Michael Schiavo sue the Schindler's for slander re: charges of abuse

I was watching Sean Hannity drive his nose into the Schindler's bums last night and in response to one question Mr. Schindler started implying that Michael was physically culpable for Terri's initial condition. He went on to say on camera that police/CSI's initially sent in for the homicide squad (why would homicide be investigating someone who wasn't dead?) and that the investigation was dropped without any reason given.

From what I've seen, the Schindler's seem to have driven this media frenzy more than anything and that no investigation ever turned up evidence of foul play or abuse on Michael's part. If this is correct, could he sue the Schindlers for slander or defamation of character or are they totally non-accountable for any lies and spin they throw out against him.

This questions could also apply to any health-care staff who have accused Michael of neglecting or otherwise mistreating Terri in the time she's been in the hospice.

I've seen this guy's reputation dragged DEEPLY through the mud.

He's not a politician nor a celebrity. He didn't ask for fame nor for whatever benefits he may get from it down the road.

Kerry suffered the slings and arrows of pure falsified attack and looked the other way. But he was already a public figure where the rules were different.

Let's hope Michael Schiavo will be able to make these patrons of "personal responsiblity" responsible for what they've said about him.

,...acknowledgement to all those officers, doctors, lawyers, guardians and others who have vetted through and DISMISSED the factually baseless conspiracies,...Mr. Shiavo certainly has AMPLE basis upon which to sue a LOT of persecutorial NUTS who have attacked his character with BASELESS ACCUSATIONS and slandering him and his life with defaming assertions which any reasonable person would find stunning and obnoxious. I hope he DOES sue each and every one of those NUTS! But, if he decides to simply move on with his life, I would certainly understand such a decision.
