Over 200 Demonstraters from the greater Grand Traverse Region stood in a late season blizzard on the 2nd anniversary of the US occupation of Iraq.

100,000 PLUS Dead, U.S. Out of Iraq!, and Enough is Enough! These were the themes of the day for over 200 demonstrators in Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday March 19. Even as a late season blizzard blanketed the region, residents from the greater Grand Traverse area gathered for a day of protest and mourning for the 10,000’s Iraqi deaths under U.S. occupation, in addition to the 1,500 U.S. deaths.

The protest took on a visual representation of the deaths with participants lining Grandview Parkway holding over a half-mile long string of dangling black ribbons to represent all the lives lost in Iraq. The display was intended to be a display of unity, and a vigil in opposition to the War On Iraq.

1. I am so proud of everyone in the Traverse City region...

The GOP thinks they own the area--and when Bush campaigned there--Traverse had one of the largest anti-Bush gatherings in the state. And they had as many protesters in the snow--as they had in Detroit on Friday if the reports are correct. Wish I could have been there!

Was there a DUer there?Somebody took a picture of me because I was dressed in black from head to toe and my back was covered in snow so it really stood out.I think it is great that you were able to get these and post them here!Thanks again.We got lots of honks and waves and peace signs.Only had four jerks flip us of from their warm vehicles.:freak: That's ok though.The support way outnumbered the fearful kool-aid drinkers.:yourock:
