1. I'm a NY expat
First time I heard Rush "broadcast from atop the Empire State Building", I was in Arizona...in the woods...and Rush was playing the sound of chain-saws clear-cutting.

That was weird.

2. Well there could be two sets of reasoning for that
One of course is because NY city is a major communications hub. Lots and lots of transmitters and stations to work with. Secondly and there is a lot of truth to that statement like there is for many other blue states once you get outside of NY city and the surround counties and Albany its actually a red state.

3. Dallas isn't exactly "red" anymore...
Shoulda checked the poll results from last year. Bush 50%, Kerry 49%. If some key memebers of our local Democratic institution hadn't lost their nerve, we could have turned Dallas blue.

4. What - why would O'Reilly want to live in a backwater like a red state?
I mean the restaurants and bookstores in New York...

7. most areas with high quality communication tech are in blue areas
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 01:22 AM by JI7
even when it's in red states like Georgia such as CNN it's still in a blue area such as Atlanta.

for them to really go red they would need to move into some rural or exurb area and that would pretty much make it impossible to do what they do.

but i do think this is one of the reasons these areas are red. the lack of diverse sources of information. even liberal areas get things like fox news and rush. but right wing areas rarely get shows with liberal or even non partisan views.

11. Manhattan voted 80% for Kerry
Second only Chicago in large city voting.

Staten Island brings the City down a lot in the overall %.

Secession for NYC from NY State. An independent NYC from the shackles of Albany. Let Staten Island and Long Island go back to NY State or join the future freedom of NYC in it's pursuit to the promised land or statehood.

Faux, like Clear Channel, doesn't give a fuck about Conservatism.

NYC is where all the "big" broadcasting is.

High profile. High $$$.
