Remember the Utah kidnapping case? Grace swore up and down that Richard Ricci had kidnapped and murdered the Smart girl. She begged and pleaded and cried on air for him to "tell the authorities where he had buried her". One problem--Ricci was innocent. Yes, he later died in jail of a brain hemmorage (was being held for non-related charges,) but he was not guilty of kidnapping or murdering the Smart girl, who as it turns out, was still very much alive, and had been kidnapped by some religious fanatic. I've yet to see her apologize for trying to railroad Ricci into a crime he did not commit. This is typical of her on-air antics.

Grace proposed more than one scenario including this one:

Those following the story hoped that either (1) if Ricci were the kidnapper, he had an accomplice or (2) the kidnapper was not Ricci because those were the likely scenarios in which Elizabeth might be found alive.

Nancy Grace also appears to have been hoping for whichever scenario would be the most promising for Elizabeth's return.
