I do not wish to be kept alive by artificial means!
If my brain activities cease yank the tube and pull the plug. There. I've put it in print. Publicly.

Of course if the some people get what they want out of this, my wishes would become meaningless, because they claim to have more intimate knowledge of the sanctity of my life than I do.

I had this conversation with my wife in private. I told her what I would want. Pity that if she were to deliver this information, after having come through the grueling realization that there was nothing more for me, she would also be subjected to endless speculation about her motives.

Honey, print this and lock it away. I would hate to put you through that.

1. Me too - but first
how about an MRI? My suggestion to you is to put it in writing - a living will.

2. That would be neccessary to determine brain function.

Wouldn't it?

And a living will is quiet. I think this requires more volume to be heard above the righteous.

3. I put a similar statement on my Web site...
I will have a living will (and a regular will) drawn up, as I don't have either right now and that would make it somewhat more legally binding than a Web post, but it's there for now.

Right now, as I am unmarried with no children, my parents are my next of kin -- and they are well aware of my wishes, as I am of theirs. (I come from a long line of people who want to -- and the cases of those who are gone, did -- die in peace.)
