ABC News Poll: 87% would not want to be left alive like Terri Schiavo.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Schiavo/story?id=595905&page=2

"According to an ABC News poll released earlier this week, 87 percent of those surveyed said they would not want to be kept alive if in Terri Schiavo's condition, and 65 percent said a spouse should have the final say in what happens to a patient, as opposed to parents."

Contact congress and let them know that you are dismayed at their meddling in personal matters.

1. It's all about making money for doctors
The AMA hates it when people die cause then the gravy train stops. They want to keep us alive forever no matter how miserable our life.

6. By the way, let's also highlight
...that the GOP has blocked Americans from having socialized health care of the sort citizens of every other industrialized nation on earth receive...

...that the GOP is currently fighting to limit the rights of citizens to sue for malpractice such as occurred in this case...

...and that this week the GOP passed a bill that would keep families impoverished by the catastrophic cost fo health care (such as in this family's case) from declaring bankruptcy...

3. Attn medical professionals
IF something beyond what the hubby wanted to do COULD be done...Can the doctors/hospitals petition the courts to take control of the case?
I can't imagine any doctor agreeing to this if there was ANY hope.

8. Yo, Dems---got any political instincts at all??---any??
Mostly our leaders don't so I don't expect our Dem leaders to do squat with such info. Obviously the people don't like this type of thing shoved down their throats. Why are they not saying the blistering, right-on things that the husband's lawyer was saying at his news conference yesterday. They should be exposing the power grabbing attempts by these repubs in Congress and making them look like some combination of Nazis and Saddam rolled into one. A good starting point to drumbeat how these slime and their friends are trying to rule as dictators in this country and meddle in everyone's personal lives. And we hear that big rush of empty air and silence in that spot where the Dems should be --- as usual.

Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 01:33 PM by LaPera

to die with dignity, it might catch on and huge profits can be lost...Unscrupulous fucks!

And Christians always loved to stick their self-righteous noses in peoples personal matters as if they speak for god...Robot fucks!

Republican politicians, simply love the control. Always, they are there to make headlines and will always go whichever way the wind blows and the money flows...Slimy fucks!

11. That percentage is of landslide proportion and makes --

-- Tom DeLay's and Bill Frist's shameless grandstanding this week on Terry Schiavo even more shameless than it already is.

I hate the far-right-driven GOP for any number of reasons, but one that stands out this week is its impulse to seek the esteem (and donor checks) of the hysterical kooks who on one hand are prayer-rocking on behalf of Terry Schiavo and on the other are voting for Bush & other Republicans who gut the very life-affirming programs that give all citizens an opportunity to live a dignified life.

It's faith-based hypocrisy.
