Any vitamin gurus out there? As a male in his late forties, what
vitamins should I be taking on a regular basis? I exercise regularly, including moderate weightlifting. Don't know if this means anything, but my father has macular degeneration and I have heard that taking zinc might help to prevent that. Right now, I don't take any thing.

Sooooo, what do you recommend?

2. How about one of those "silver" multivitamins ...

...since you're, like, really old ...

(I'm right behind ya. Mid 40s. I just take a generic multivitamin every day, I think at the recommendation of that RealAge email newsletter I used to get.)

3. I'm in my late 30s
and have been taking a basic multivitamin for nearly 20 years. I had been taking an additional vitamin E supplement, but stopped about a year ago, as its efficacy has become more doubtful. More importantly, I try to eat reasonably well: meatwise just poultry & fish (might eventually go veggie), legumes, whole grains, fruit, veggies, nuts, dairy. I do have a sweet tooth, though (esp. for chocolate).

For the last couple of years I've been drinking 2-3 cups of green & black tea per day. These supposedly pack a far greater antioxidant punch than vitamins.

5. please read "Nature's First Law."
It tells the truth about our failed medical profession and the lies of the food industries about nutrition. We are a sick and diseased nation because we will not respect the laws of nature about nutrition. You do not need to add synthetic pills of concentrated minerals to you body.
