Why can't we just accept that some people have below average capabilities?

(OTHER THAN THE CHIMP IN THE WH!!!!)

Why? Because then maybe it'd make arguing for some damned societal cooperation a little bit easier. I'm talking about average people here, not those born with silver spoons in their asses. The Repukes know this, and manipulate it, but pretend like it doesn't exist. Damn they're good at lying...

Look...Not everyone has the training, or IQ, to succeed in this giant swindling machine regardless of CONservative claims to the contrary! Capabilities DO matter. Toss in the lack of friendly business connections, classim, racism, sexism, homophobia, and weak family support, and you know what? Not everyone CAN "make it".

Don't give me anomalies either, there are close to 300,000,000 people in this country now and there's a good percentage that can't write visual basic, or python, or any other specialty that brings in the bucks.

Hell the illiteracy rate is near 25%!

They want economic "competition" with people that are functionally illiterate?

That's disturbing. I'd prefer to fight my own weight class.

PS~ I may be in that 25% so watch it punks.

BIG EDIT: There are lots (Millions) of people that are screwed by classim, racism, sexism, and homophobia, that are brilliant. Please don't think I'm blurring the issues:-)

1. LOL!
Toss in the lack of friendly business connections, and weak family support, and you know what? Not everyone CAN "make it".

Sprinkle on some classim, racism, sexism, and homophobia, and viola! "Not every can make it."

3. I think
it's because some of those people become president and have the wrong, and I mean THE wrong, political views. I'm not comparing anyone to the village idiot here, but it depends on the person's aims and goals. I think that those who may not have the highest IQ and may not even have the most education can become productive members of society, unlike our president. I seem to notice a lot of college dropouts and even some high school dropouts who make incredible businesspeople. But then you have those like Bush who don't have the intelligence of a chair, yet managed to finish college (with the help of his well connected "daddy" ((sub sub topic I think Dan Quayle may be Shrub's real daddy because they have the same mental capacity)) and plenty of money), and on top of it all he became president and actually thinks he fooled enough people into believing he won Florida fair and square. He makes me sick.

4. in order to have an average, there has to be a below
along with the above. just makes sense to me. i was talking this with a teacher, about taks tests. she was saying that all children should be able to do. i told her, along with the above average, you have the below average too. as far as i have seen, god gifts them along with the rest of us, in their own special ways.

6. The gifted, the slow, the average
They all exist, and have their unique gifts. I am among those most would consider "gifted"; but I also have problems:depression, OCD, panic problems, and boarder-line dislexia (I love the backspace key). I also have a BA and almost a MA in music history. I have to accept that there are lots of people who are not on my level, heck, I work for them.

7. that's why it's important that the oligarchy perpetuate the myths . . .
you know the ones . . . that anyone can grow up to be president . . . that "hard work and playing by the rules" will bring success and happiness . . . that anyone can make it if they really, really try . . . stuff like that . . .

and, of course, they have to make up new myths to keep people from really thinking about the old ones . . . myths like the 19 Saudi hijackers (whose photos and bios were plastered from coast to coast within a day of the 9/11 attacks . . . that we're actually fighting for freedom in Iraq . . . that NAFTA and similar trade pacts are good for America . . . that Social Security is an investment vehicle (rather than old age insurance) . . . stuff like that . . .

they spend an awful lot of time and resources creating and perpetuating myths to maintain their control of people . . . when people begin to see these myths for what they are (vapor), things may change . . .

but probably not . . .
