Terri Schiavo, the Republicans and the UNINSURED.

After listening to the news and hearing a host of Republican politicians opine on the Terri Schiavo case and the sanctity of life, I think we have a reason to go at these people hard about the 45 million Americans without health insurance. If I happened to be Terri, the feeding tube issue would never have come up because I couldn't have afforded to have it in the first place. If the Republicans are willing to convene a special session of Congress to discuss Terri Schiavo, part of the "right to live" conversation needs to be about the millions who, if they'd been Terri, would have died 12 years ago because they didn't have health insurance. "Right to life" has to apply to more than fetuses and people unable to speak for themselves. I, for one, am going to compose a letter voicing this opinion and send it to everyone in the House and Senate. I hope some of you will, too.
