2. Three Senators make one vote in the interests of their constituents
and we're moving right now?

4. That is the reasonable approach
The truth is we need to defeat the President's BS on the ground before we can expect the Senate or the House to do what we want.

It's a fine line, though; and I definately lost some respect for those three senators. There's such a thing as principle as well. Were I from those states I would definately back a challanger in the primary.

14. I would back their primary opponents too.
And I don't like that they voted that way either and I lost some personal respect as well, but I'm willing to concede I understand why they did it. There were still only three of them. I somehow think the sky might stay in the air for a little while longer.

5. Am I the only one who thinks these labels are way too simplistic?
Left-Center-Right ideology is no way to pick a position on issues. No one ideology always produces ideal solutions.

6. Has the Democratic Party ever been "Left Wing"?....
I propose it hasn't when looking across the broad spectrum of issues.

10. Heh
Maybe I should have asked 'What is left wing?' I'd bet it's pretty different today than 50 years ago.

11. I don't think so generally....
at least domestically...pro-labor, pro-civil rights, pro-consumerism, etc.

Foreign policy is a wild card.

12. Hmm
You're right about the underlying principles. I meant in terms of specific policies and programs.

Foreign policy, hmm. Well, Democrats were almost always more internationalist and interventionist than Republicans. Maybe that was a function of the South, which was/is generally the home of the assertive foreign policy. Tough question.

13. Should be renamed the Moderate wing of the Republican Party.
The only difference being that the corporations don't pay them as much.
