5. Landrieu was the deciding Dem vote. She voted to drill in our reserve
She lies and says she is a Democrat. We pay to put that person into a Democratic seat so she can vote GOP and get the goodies from corporate lobbyists.

Pure Slime.

17. They are from Hawaii??
Man, so that means they hate Alaska. I'm dumbfounded. You would think anyone from that State (beautiful and needing protection) would be thelast place to vote against the evironment. How bout we make Hawaii a penal colony or something? I don't understand humanity at all.

2. If the oil companies are saying it's too expensive or not
profitable enough to drill as some have posted here previously, this may all be a moot point anyway. Just because they can doesn't necessarily mean they will.

Ever the optimist here.

7. That is a good thing. Still, we'll go after ANWAR before oil shale
becomes economical. Even though a Utah firm has a pilot plant that is better than past plants.

3. Please forgive us
Please forgive us, we don’t know what was done.
Please forgive us, we didn’t know.
Could you ever forgive us?
I don’t know how you could.
I know this is no consolation.

Please forgive us, we didn’t know.
Could you ever believe that we didn’t know?
Please forgive us, we didn’t know.
I wouldn’t blame you if you never could, and you never will.

6. Maybe the environmental groups can start a lawsuit to stop this.
There's alot of anger about this. I'll have to wait until I hear from some of the groups I belong to.

What I don't understand is that we lost the support of folks who voted against ANWAR in 2003. Bush must have threatened the Repugs who voted with us last time. I can't understand how we could have won then, and lost this time with all our efforts.

Let's hope something will come up....It's just too depressing to think we could lose this. Watch for oil prices to come down in the next week. Bush only has his buddies jack prices up when he wants something. Maybe that was what turned the vote for the Repugs who defected last time to stay with their party.

15. unbelievable
what was the political negative in supporting your party? what was the political backlash of rejecting a policy that a majority of America rejects? I really don't understand.

Are they being paid? Did they have a sudden change of mind now that the 'majority' is Repulican? Are they afraid of going down in history as a member of the Democratic party? Fuck them, I hope 2006 weeds out every one of these Democrats and leaves us with the cream of the crop. Its like pitching in a game with a broken leg. For God's sake, man, fix the leg!

16. How are thety going to get there? How are they getting the oil out?
By transporting it across Canada, which has strict environmental policies.

23. start documenting everything! make sure there's a paper trail ...
All those promises they made about how good it would be for Alaska and the US economy, and how there wouldn't be any damage?

Find out who is making money off this -- how many jobs, and for how long, and whether Americans use the oil or if it gets sold off to somebody else. And, of course, the impacts on the environment. My bets is that this will turn out to be a fiasco, and they will try to pretend that a) they never made all those promises, and b) nobody tried to warn them.
