1. True. Or at least...
They think they control it... but there are always things that control them, too. Great books.

2. yup
Everyone should read Dune, the whole series.. or get the dvd's of Dune and Children of Dune. They're great!

There's nothing like scifi to highlight the world of politics.

4. Just think of some of those oldies: like 'cinnamon'..
"Give it to me 'cinnamon' I can't wait" With that attitude of course they'd control the universe..

5. who ever controls the Bird Flu vaccine will be one of the 60 million
left in this country alive. only 3 million doses will be made and those will go to the Corporate elite, the Government Fascists and the guys protecting the Nuclear arsenal.

right now the Bird Flu kills 84%. when it hits there will be no electrical power, no running water, not garbage pickup, no flushing the toilet, no trucks will travel on the roads carrying food, looters will take what is left.. no police, not fireman.. they will all be dead or sick. every thing will stop..

it will be doubtful if civilization will return for a couple thousand years.. the fanatics claiming god did this because of our wickedness.. and they will control us to make sure it doesn't happen again

there will be only a small manageable population of slaves left to serve the elite who got ready before they did this to us.

6. That's a different SF work: "The Omega Man"
Or, was it the premise for "Zardoz"?

Watch out for those flying stone heads.

8. Well..
If you have a limited amount of resources and too many people, how do you make the numbers work?

9. See "Soylent Green"
Another Charleton Heston apocalyse classic of the 1970s. Upon observing how the primary food source for the starving masses is processed, he cries out that famous last line: "It's people!"

Sanitation trucks have seemed slightly sinister ever since.

7. I will not fear
Fear is the mindkiller,
Fear is the little death
That brings total Oblivion
I will permit my fear to pass
Over me and through me
And where it has gone
I will turn the inner eye
Nothing will be there
Only I will remain.
