Jesus Frickin' KEE RYSTE! Grover Norquist on AAR this moment
just turned it on, and I'll be switched if that's not his voice I hear.

anybody else listening?

what was that thread here today that quoted him as saying the greatest generation is bad news or something?

1. maybe they were just playing a quote...or else they're not
letting him talk

just the sound of his overly modulated voice makes me PUKE

they should always play that tape somebody made where he went after the Gov of Ohio, was it

now THAT was good radio

3. These freaks get enough air time.. keep them OFF AAR, PLEASE!
We have precious few outlets, and to have to listen to their garbage is ridiculous..

We need to stop being so "fair".. "Fair" has put us where we are now.. (under the boot-heel)

I can't decide whether I agree or not.

you're absolutely correct about the total disparity in any sort of progressive message at all getting out....there is effectively ZERO PM in the CorpMedia...what little voice there is exists mainly in the ethernet; a small, but, hopefully growing, number of outlets are appearing on regular radio, but the ratio is nothing short of disheartening.

Chicago just added a new 50K watt wingnut station, which is even worse than WLS

that would have been perfect for AAR, but they didn't have the money

I wonder if some wingnut presence on prog stations doesn't serve a purpose, though: showing them up to be the liars/imbeciles they are when confronted by actual adversarial, thoughtful questioning

dunno....their mere presence annoys me beyond mention; especially that Mark idiot on Franken's show

17. Look For AAR in Chicago Next Month
1690 AM...

BTW...WIND, owned by the far right wingnut Salem Broadcasting, fortunately is only 5,000 watts and it's ratings have been abysmal. It doesn't matter, Salem will lose money to keep their hate talkers lying and spewing. Sadly, these stations do real, real well in red states.

I listen to some of AAR from 1530 in Cincinatti and think they should include wingnuts and what they say. Not everyone is aware of the hypocrisies and arrogance of many of these turds, this is the best way of bringing that out...and as an old talk show host myself, there was nothing more fun and satisfying than to give them the rope and let them hang themselves.

4. grover makes very good money...
tearing reason from the mouths of babes; his checks don't bounce, so he can afford to look the ass at prestigious debate societies mucking up the common cross-talk (a specialty of the right)...i can't stand his voice, you should maybe turn the knob?

6. had it been the sort of show of which I've cured myself of watching/
listening, I would have turned

it was a tape, so I didn't have to make the decision

I may have clicked off, had he actually been on longer than the snip, but I don't know....would have depended upon how well the two of them were doing. he's annoyingly, cloyingly, unctuously unflappable, to my added irritation

that's why I mentioned the snip where he sorta lost it. I'd dearly love to hear another instance of his losing his carefully manicured temper

the ones like him, that lowkey it all the time, really get my goat, because you KNOW they're not like that offcam

did you see it when Joe diGenova almost had an infarc when he was on with Brock, right when his first antiwingnut book came out? media whorse online printed a five shot TV screen capture showing how PURPLE his face turned as he kept feeding his rage at Brock's apostasy

it was the BEST...better than OReilly vs. Franken on CSPAN

I have it on video tape somewhere

10. this is pretty interesting...an exchange of letters between Brock and
Tucker Carlson, shortly after Brock's Esquire article, 'confessions of a rightwing hit man'

well worth a look:

http://slate.msn.com/id/3654/entry/23928/

Dear David:

You begin your recent Esquire piece, "Confessions of a Right-Wing Hit Man," by describing the high price you've paid for being an honest journalist. Shortly before your book on Hillary Clinton came out last fall, word spread that your characterization of the first lady was not entirely hostile. Most of your conservative friends had expected an unmitigated hit job, and many of them were surprised. Some were angry. One of them, a woman named Barbara Olson, left a message on your answering machine disinviting you to a dinner she and her husband were hosting to celebrate the closing of the 104th Congress. "Given what's happened," you quote Olson as saying, "I don't think you'd be comfortable at the party."
People get bumped off invite lists every day, but you invest the incident with deeper significance. For the crime of not being mean enough to Hillary, you write, "I was suddenly no longer welcome in my old circle." Barbara Olson's message was "especially jarring," you point out, because her husband, a lawyer, "had a thriving First Amendment practice." The Olsons, in other words, were not only being rude by disinviting you, they were excommunicating you from the entire community of conservatives, maybe even violating your free-speech rights. You were, needless to say, stunned: "As only someone who has fallen from grace in Washington can know, it was a classic moment."
According to you, it got more surprising from there. You recount how Grover Norquist, the feverish unsavory head of Americans for Tax Reform, waged a whispering campaign against you for "helping the other team." You complain that Oliver North and G. Gordon Liddy wouldn't have you on their radio shows. You reveal that Gary Aldrich, whose book Unlimited Access whines about excessive swearing in the Clinton White House, doesn't like you because you're gay. You grumble about not being taken seriously as an objective journalist, while at the same time crying foul because you were not invited to address a convention of conservative political activists. You even appear hurt that liberals, still sore about your Anita Hill book, refused to come to your defense. The whole experience, you explain in wounded tones, was shocking. When did professional political partisans become so ... partisan?

lots more at link, including Brock's withering responses

12. why I love the internet....more, but this time re: what an Ahole Carlson
is...from AMPOL

http://www.americanpolitics.com/102997TuckerCarlson.html

Wednesday, October 29th, 1997 -- NEW YORK (APJ) -- This must be the week for goofball e-mail.

I got a phone call at 5:15 this morning from a 15 year-old intern of ours. She was crying. She told me, through teenage tears, that punk journalist Tucker Carlson, the baby-faced image of Bob's Big Boy, had sent me an e-mail with two words. She wouldn't tell me what they were. I calmed the intern, whose job it is to ferret out hundreds of pieces of junk mail, and went to my office to see for myself. Here's an exact copy of what I found:
