It is my hope that members of the House, Senate, and the President will recognize how the price of gasoline is emptying the wallet of the normal working and voting American. A citizen working for the national minimum wage has to pay more than one third of their hourly salary for a single gallon of gasoline.
Before the 2000 election, then Governor Bush criticized President Bill Clinton for tapping into the National Oil Reserves, calling it a political move. Then Governor Bush also stated that a better option to lower skyrocketing fuel costs would be to lower federal taxes on fuel, and to use further diplomacy with Nato.
I am wondering since then Governor Bush is now President, if any of this would be done, or if it was just a political move to say what he would do, and not do it. Fuel prices were far lower at the time of that debate than they are currently.
If it is still an option to lower taxes on fuel, I would hope it is within the current House and Senate's power to do such a thing. If it is within the House and Senate's power to use further diplomacy, I would hope that would be done as well.
Please recognize the struggle of the average American, and be part of an effort to lower fuel costs.
Thank you from a voting constituent
