My letter to my senators and congressman about fuel costs
It is my hope that members of the House, Senate, and the President will recognize how the price of gasoline is emptying the wallet of the normal working and voting American. A citizen working for the national minimum wage has to pay more than one third of their hourly salary for a single gallon of gasoline.

Before the 2000 election, then Governor Bush criticized President Bill Clinton for tapping into the National Oil Reserves, calling it a political move. Then Governor Bush also stated that a better option to lower skyrocketing fuel costs would be to lower federal taxes on fuel, and to use further diplomacy with Nato.

I am wondering since then Governor Bush is now President, if any of this would be done, or if it was just a political move to say what he would do, and not do it. Fuel prices were far lower at the time of that debate than they are currently.

If it is still an option to lower taxes on fuel, I would hope it is within the current House and Senate's power to do such a thing. If it is within the House and Senate's power to use further diplomacy, I would hope that would be done as well.

Please recognize the struggle of the average American, and be part of an effort to lower fuel costs.

Thank you from a voting constituent

1. A very good letter, intelligent, and well written.....but way to nice!
When I write my Senator, I am usually angry about something and begin by telling them that they are slipping behind their employer's expectations and I am going to have to write them up again. If they don't become a team member, it might effect their future as an employee of this state. That is what we all have to hear when we aren't doing the job we were hire for and it apply to them as well.

You are much more polite about your discontent that I!

2. I always found a heated roll easier to slice..lol.
I was going to comment that it might not be possible to lower fuel taxes since the taxes for the top 2 percent of earners has been lowered so much. That tax cut might be more important and politically expedient than lowering taxes on fuel for average and poor folk.

I didn't want to be too sarcastic, so I left it with just the level of sarcasm I had.

:)
