If you are too lazy to hunt yourself, go to the fucking butcher
Otherwise, go put your camos on, grab a rifle, and go hunting.

I am not one for hunting, but I can understand it more if someone uses the whole animal, as the Indians did.

This is bullshit!

5. It's wrong on many levels
Who will track down the wounded ones? Are they going to leave the animals to rot on the ground? Who's hunting license will they use? Will they obey hunting seasons? Will it be a penned in 'game farm' and domesticated game would be shot? That would be about as interesting as hunting dairy cows...

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

6. It's disgusting
I grew up a hunter (only hunt game birds now), and nothing pisses me off more, disgusts me more, than this.

Seriously, it makes me sick.

8. What's the difference between this and
a video game?

Seriously.

You're sitting on your ass on the couch at home with a bigass bag of chips and a pop shooting stuff.

If there's a serious demand for equal hunting opportunities for the disabled, they already HAVE handicapped accessible duck blinds at many refuges, and honestly, the modern way of deer hunting where you sit on your ass in a tree stand isn't exactly physically demanding. Get a stand that you can be hoisted into, and have at it.

10. Yeah but
the modern way of deer hunting where you sit on your ass in a tree stand isn't exactly physically demanding

Well, in general, I've gotta disagree. Hunters could walk for miles just to get to the right spot for a tree stand, and they usually have to track down the larger game if it doesn't fall in one shot. You ever drag 100 lbs of deer through the woods? That's kind of physically demanding.

That said:
My family is full of serious hunters. I hear stories all the time about jagoffs that are too lazy to track wounded game or sit on 4-wheelers all day to wait for other hunters to 'herd' the deer towards them. This really pisses the real hunters off. Not to mention that those types are usually the ones who have no sense of gun safety.

12. The stands I've seen
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 08:41 PM by XemaSab
Tend to be in the same place all the time, that is the hunter hunts there every year. There are plenty of private clubs that have stands that stay put, where the hunter just picks which stand he'd like to hunt from.

You're right, hauling deer through the woods is physically demanding, so I was wrong about that part.

I'm not an expert on this, but it seems like stands could be made to accommodate disabled hunters, and as far as chasing down wounded game, they would need someone to help them into the stand, so the "helper" could go after wounded deer.

Still not very sporting, IMHO, but better than sitting at home.

On edit: It occurred to me that I could take out some very nice deer from the window at my desk, if I was really that desparate to shoot something. Every day, 2x a day, about 10 deer of all ages go through the field outside.

Looking at the website (http://live-shot.com/) this seems to be less for a truly disabled hunter than for a f***ing asshole who likes guns and killing. The place also offers canned hunts for exotic species, which is also utterly tacky. Why not just go to the zoo with a gun?

11. Well,
That sitting on your ass for hours on end might work back east, but in the western mountain states you really got to bust your ass and climb to some pretty grueling elevations to get to where deer and elk live.
It is a completely different sport in the west.
As for the video stuff?
Complete lazy ass bullshit that gives real hunters a bad name.
real hunters have a deep respect for their quarry.
This is an atrocity.

14. I'm not against hunting, don't get me wrong
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 08:49 PM by XemaSab
But I've been on private clubs where you sit in a stand and wait for deer to come to a feeder or soybean patch. Hence the "sitting on your ass" part.

I'm okay with hunting as long as there is sportsmanship. Canned hunts and remote hunting... I just don't see the sportsmanship.

13. A chuckle
A GOP state rep in Texas introduced a bill in the state legislature to ban remote hunting completely. I got that from the March 5th issue of the Economist.
