Hill of Credit-Card Debt (GOP Hypocrisy on bankruptcy bill)

Hill of credit-card debt

By Josephine Hearn

More than 40 members of the House reported carrying at least $10,000 in credit-card or charge-card debt in 2003 and parts of 2004, according to a survey of financial disclosure reports conducted by The Hill....

Opponents of the bill drew hope from the data, suggesting that lawmakers who nurse high-interest debt might be more likely to sympathize with indebted consumers...Yet the 43 members identified in the survey were as likely to have voted for the bankruptcy bill when it came to the House floor in 2003 as were members without credit-card or similar revolving accounts...

1. It's not that big a deal because they all make huge salaries.

I am not really troubled by the debt some of them have, although six figure credit card debt is troubling. What irritates me is...they make huge money, they change the rules of bankruptcy and then they refuse to raise the minimum wage. That's what irks me no end.

2. Those balances will probably disappear from their accounts...
or a fat envelope of cash will suddenly appear on the floor of their office unlabeled and unclaimed.

3. There Are Some Issues Here, Probably The Debt Is No
problem for these guys with their salaries. However, what my concern would be most would be if one of these guys is in debt to say MBNA for several thousand dollars, what kind of a deal could they give him to assist him in this huge debt.

To me if he votes in favor of MBNA and owes them several thousand dollars; would'nt or should'nt that be somewhat of a concern for us?

6. I just passed a Taco Bell with the marquette that read
"WE NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS"

What can I say, they want a world of impoverished, indentured servants! Don't forget to call and tell them what jerks they are tomorrow.
