Royal Caribbean "Explorer of the Seas" - U of Miami Rosensteil Labs Cruise

Does anybody have any knowledge of or experience with this program or any similar programs (I'm a 60+ geezer, and I am not particularly interested in "barefooting" on a "tall ship".

It's a "blocked out" section of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines "Explorer of the Seas" operated by NOAA and the University of Miami Rosensteil Labs (Oceanography Dept). I get the impression that the paying passengers can at least play "Oceanography Assistant Lab tech. Is this a valid impression?

The brochures are neat, and the write up in the NYTimes Travel Section looked interesting.

This interest started when I learned that the Russian Navy was selling "tourist" berths on its Polar Ice Breakers.
