One of biggest stars on the right side of the blogosphere for the last couple months has been Ward Churchill. He was conveniently thrown into the echo chamber by O’Reilly during the last week of January. And all because of an essay Ward published on September 12, 2001, and then republished, in book form, in late 2003. But this isn’t about him or academic freedom; this is about another Churchill who should receive a little attention every now and then.
I’m no history buff, but some of what I’ve heard about Sir Winston Churchill from the pundits just doesn’t jive with my impression of the man. He’s admired by Ann Coulter, and his name is conflated with that of the current occupier of the White House (c/o Giuliani at RNC 2004).
There's more, and a lot of good links I found. I was setting out to start a discussion on the legacy of Winston Churchill, or even speculate on how he would have dealt with the aftermath of 9/11. Would he have been a fumbling lapdog like Tony Blair?
