2. Well here we have
a homegrown terrorist like McVeigh or others that have always existed, long before 9-11. But yes, I would like more money spent on securing our country instead of invading and pillaging a country that had no power to hurt us.

5. The Democrats wanted Home Land Security. Bush didn't. Then came
the 2002 election when all of a sudden Bush is for it but because the Democrats wanted the federal employees to be allowed to join the union, they were suddenly unpatriotic and holding up the only defense between us and those terrible terrorists.

Since he didn't want it in the first place, why would anyone think he would support it after it came into existance.

6. It actually could be a cause of the shooting
Bush has given money to homeland security at the expense of local dept.Of course bush tax cuts also should be sighted as a cause. We are definitely not safer because of it's creation!

7. I do not think the shootings and Homeland Sec. are necessarily
related. Theese are horrible shootings by very disturbed people.

8. It's ineffective
I'm sure the money makes us feel better, and probably gives people some good job opportunities, but it is ineffective in my opinion.

Case in point.

This past week, my family and I were on vacation. Just yesterday we returned.

My wife packs a medium sized suitcase as her carry-on luggage which naturally I get to carry. It contains basically a hge make-up kit. Curling iron, hair dryer, three different brushes, hypodermic needles (diabetic). My immediate thought was it would take an hour to get through security because each of these things could hide knives or even swords and it just looks obvious under the x-rays.

Then to cap it off, my wife packed her driver's license so she had no photo ID. Oh crap I thought. Now we're here for an hour for sure.

Nope. Nothing. Never even opened the bag. Completely ineffective if anyone was actually trying to smuggle a weapon onto the plane, I have no doubt they would have succeeded.

I've also read stories about air marshalls having to wear certain clothing and be groomed certain ways so they stick out to everyone on the plane. Seems that's their death warrant if their are actually terrorists on a flight.

Seems like we're just wasting an awful lot of money.
