Insourced Muslim workers walk off jobs in Tennessee
Go to this link and read how Dell computer, Tyson Foods and others have brought in more that 5000 "temporary" {guest)workers from Somalia and now those workers are angry because they are not allowed to do their evening prayers so they are walking off the job.

Meanwhile....where are the Americans citizens in Tennessee working? Why isn't the mainstream yelling about this>

1. Low unemployment rate
Then again, they can't figure out what's causing that pesky high poverty rate. :eyes:

2. "Temporary" in this case referred to the agency that employed them.
I saw nothing in the article to indicate these were guest workers. They were described only as 'immigrants' without indication of their status.

Sounds like Dell (at least) is using temp agencies to staff up to keep up with Just In Time shipping.

I'd like to see more background on these Somali immigrants and whether the companies (like Dell, Tyson and Whirlpool) are bringing them in, or hiring them after they're already here, before I start making any judgments on this.

Yelling from the Mainstream? You mean the CORPORATE Media? Bought and paid for; you'll hear no yelling from them.

3. You are right..."Temporary" agency...
However, a report on NOW last night from Tennessee had workers and executives (Americans) explain how they had been given their separation papers and told that they would have to train their replacements before they left.

My own daughter was replaced the same way in the banking industry in NYC.

These workers are on guest worker visas and can stay here as long as the company needs them.

Eventually, American families will be split up as some are forced to go overseas to work because of no jobs here.

5. I worked for a bank in NYC for 32 years, and had the same experience
I had to train my replacements from India, or I'd get no severance benefits. I don't blame the workers who replaced me; I blame corporate management.

That said, I do have problems with the 'guest worker' program; all I'm saying is in this article, 'guest worker' was never mentioned, all that was said is that there were 5,000 Muslim immigrants living in the area. I'd like more background before making further comment on the Tennessee situation relative to the immigration status of the Muslim workers.

8. It's happening now
Lots of computer programmers live apart from their families. Last year after a lay off, my husband was considering taking a job in England. It would have been tough, but better than being out of work. Fortunately, he found a job nearby.

no retirement plans, but lots of hard work.

BushAmerica is a sick country these days.

7. I think we need to get the word out so that more people
think twice before they purchase a Dell.
