"Bad Leadership" on Book TV/C-SPAN2: Bill CLINTON
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 03:38 PM by UTUSN
Her name is Barbara KELLERMAN. She said she is focusing on BAD leadership because all the management books focus on GOOD leadership. So she has seven categories (gotta be seven). When she got to "Rigid Leadership), she claimed that she would NOT get current, would NOT name somebody topical, yet when she got to "INSULAR Leadership), she had NO trouble putting CLINTON's pic on the overhead projector. She then said to the tittering audience, "Some of you know where I'm going with this"----pregnant pause. Then she said, "Rwanda." Yes, folks, he was responsible for Rwanda.

Now she's taking questions, and her intellectual audience finds the most CRUCIAL leader to ask about to be? Yaas, TRUMP.

Not a word so far about Shrub. She says she grew up in an intensely political household--let's see.

1. Here It Comes, "No matter what you think of (Shrub's) policy in Iraq..."
"...when you read about Saddam's evil..." something like you can't avoid that "this is OUR problem."

2. "Loyalty is not the problem" (with Shrub)
Q: What about Shrub demanding total loyalty.

This weird person went into a "cute" thing----"President who? Who?" And she made faces of the ugliest sort of "cuteness" for 15 seconds or so, until the dude with her said, "The CURRENT president."

She then said that demanding loyalty was not the problem, but surround ONLY with yes-peeps WAS problematical, that there should be SOME peeps around to say no when he wants to invade Iraq---but she didn't say the "no" should prevail.

4. Her Last Answer: "Things getting better - Gray DAVIS gone"
The last question was whether things were getting better or worse. She did her hedging dance again, "No matter what you think about (inser Iraq, Gray DAVIS) ..."

She claimed that the perverted recall of DAVIS was a sign of "motivated citizens" refusing to put up with "bad leadership". Oh, no, it couldn't have been a wingnut-cash fueled operation to overthrow somebody the citizens ELECTED TWICE.

Let's see who the "Commonwealth of California" is: http://www.commonwealthclub.org/featured.html A mixed bag. They're hosting BAYH, but also Brian DENNEHY---the dude who claimed to be a Vietnam combat vet (and wasn't).

3. Ends vs. Means
She was asked a question about ends vs. means - she replied

"If the ends are bad, the leadership is bad.

If the means are bad, the leadership is bad."

In otherwords, GWB = bad leadership because both his ends and his means re. Iraq were bad (she didn't specifically say that, I extrapolated it from her words).

I've enjoyed her talk, in spite of her criticizing Bill Clinton for Rwanda (an appropriate criticism, imho).

6. Clinton and Albright did undermine the UN efforts in Rwanda.
Not to mention what their cozying up to Kabila in the Congo that led to even more massacres and is still going on.

Good for Kellerman.

8. I'm Just Reacting to Her Avoiding Mentioning of Shrub Until
she was pinned down. Plus her overall snotty attitude.

9. Many nations are responsible for Rwanda
For instance, people in the Security Council specifically avoided using the word "genocide" in resolutions because they know that using that word would automatically mean the SC has to act. It wasn't exactly a bright spot for the UN or for the Security Council.
