Was there Unconstitutionality in Kerry's 'loss'?
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 10:12 AM by ck4829
Remember the ties the Bush Administration had tried to foster with religious groups to make sure Bush was reelected.

* The Catholic Church had plans to excommunicate Kerry
* The Catholic Church had similar plans for anyone who voted for a Pro-Life candidate (Hey wait! How would they know who Catholics voted for?!)
* The Bush Administration had sent letters to various Churches
* Jerry Falwell and other 'Christian' Rightists had promoted Bush

Everywhere I look, I see ties to Bush and Religious bodies, and therefore the Bush Administration has violated the First Amendment.

1. More right-wing dirty tricks
than you can shake "The Good Book" at.

All those in favor of replacing the bible with the US Constitution

as the man-made document all goverment officials are sworn in on,

Please say,

"AYE!"

4. Yes, however I believe the RNC tactics violated
the equal protection clause. Especially Blackwell.

5. They sure benefited from churches
Living in a conservative, religious area, I have no doubt that Bush benefited tremendously from the messages people heard in church. They had people convinced that someone as deeply religious as John Kerry is an immoral person.

I found it amusing/hypocritical when people complained about the opposite. Pro-Bush churches were often very blatant in their condemnationof Kerry. A local liberal church was more subtle. They had a newspaper ad with several questions and the web sites of both campaigns. They didn't endorse anyone in the ad, but from the questions it was clear that the answers would be favorable to Kerry. I saw letters to the editor blasting the church for their political involvement. Of course it didn't help the church that they also had a sign up saying how everyone was welcome, and, while I don't recall the actual wording, it was clear that this included a welcome regardless of sexual preferences.
