Man Tasered In Hospital Bed, Forced To Give Urine Sample
http://www.prisonplanet.tv/articles/march2005/100305mantasered.htm

look out people

ORLANDO, Fla. - A police officer twice used a Taser stun device on a drug suspect who was restrained to a hospital bed because the man refused to give a urine sample to medical staff, authorities said.

Antonio Wheeler, 18, was arrested Friday on a drug charge and taken to an emergency room after telling officers he had consumed cocaine, police said.

Because Wheeler said he had used the drugs, Florida Hospital officials wanted a urine sample. A police affidavit said Wheeler wouldn't provide a sample on his own, so workers tried to catheterize him to get one.

11. Now I know why I'm afraid of hospitals
I've always been nervous and afraid in hospitals and bad vibes. Maybe that's why? What's with the tasers? Oy.

13. It's apparently about control and command.
In fairness, there are good people in medicine, and in some cases, provided that you want to live and you need a hospital to be able to so, its likely they'll do everything they can to help you.

More extreme cases like this taser victim do show that there are elements in our laws and our governing agencies that have created a complicit relationship between the police and hospitals.

Historically, it's been said that a lot of things that happened in doctors offices and in hospitals were done in order to elicit compliance, in part by deliberately making the patient feel vulnerable, thus less likely to object or create any inconvenience to the physician. I think there's a bit less of that today than in the past.

At the same time, cases like this show that 'command and control' is alive and well in the field of medicine.

9. Well, I can understand his point! He admitted taking the drugs, what the
hell do they need the sample for? This is ridiculous. The police are becoming increasingly fascist under Bush. I think that cop should be catheterized as punishment for his vicious, irrational behavior
