1. I'm surprised.

Pleasantly surprised. It's as if people across America are just starting to "get" it.

I think it's fair to point to the aircraft carrier "Mission Accomplished" stunt as Bush's "jumping the shark" moment. Their overreaching display of cocksure confidence did not go unnoticed by the people; it seems as if his poll numbers started dropping the next cycle around.

Things are definitely looking more positive for our chances in '04, and I'm inspired, excited and re-energized. I also think once Clark gets in, the anti-Bush voices will grow even more loud and numerous.

8. Haven't posted in a while

I haven't posted anything in a while, but I am surprised at how well things have gone over the last few months as far as people seeing the light. People may be waking up. The Chimp must go.

i also like Clark as a VP. That would be great. Maybe Dean/Clark or something. Honestly though. THey've got my vote no matter who they are.

7. I've been so pleased with the progress...

it has taken an enormous amount of hard work, though, and I would personally love to give my thanks to the ones out on the front lines of this battle. Just here on DU, I can think of Bev Harris, Will Pitt, Symbolman, the threads about Guy James, and so very, very many others. Those were just the first names that popped into my mind, there are so many more.

I have more hope now than I've had in a long, long time.

10. A happy surprise, for once

I mean it just seems like people would have to wake up sometime. I think the bad economy is helping take his numbers down a lot.

It's hard to see someone ask for 87 BILLION more dollars when you are out of work and teetering on the edge of being eligible for all those "entitlement" programs that the repugs scream against.

And cautiously hopeful. Frankly, though, I think much of the credit goes to Bush*'s unbelievable incompetence. If he'd done anything at all with the least little bit of foresight, he might still be the "enormously popular president," that we've come to know and loathe.

13. I'm cautiously optimistic...

I now have hope after seeing how 9/11 was handled this year. I thought that this would be a replay of last year - where the media worshipped at Bush's feet.

He got ripped apart on the Daily Show, 3 or 4 shows on MBNBC, on Letterman.

They had the 9/11 widows on Hardball talking about how badly Bush and Rumsfeld handled 9/11. Then they talked about how the White House doctored the EPA reports on the air quality in NY after 9/11 on 2 or 3 shows on MSNBC.

The gloves are coming off....

I refuse to allow myself to get too elated though - I've had my heart ripped out of my chest too many times.

14. I admit, I'm impressed

Now the next few months has to be a shift toward Kucinich and then we'll be getting somewhere. This is the best opportunity to get a Progressive candidate in place, Bush is very weak.

16. Although I think we've made some fantastic progress

and people are starting to wake up, it terrifies me at the same time. All it would take is another terrorist attack to send people back cowering in their corners, begging "daddy Bush" to make them feel safe again.

If something else happens, they will be able push through whatever they want and Rove and the whole cabal of PNACers know this.

18. I agree, there is cause for concern

Heck, we wouldn't be Democrats if we couldn't find a dark cloud behind a silver lining, right? :-)

Recent event have indeed been encouraging, and we must be prepared for the next stages. Unlike the Bush administration, which was so shocked when Iraq didn't instantly transform itself into a mini-U.S. after Saddam was deposed, we know that there will continue to be resistance and chaos. These thieves didn't go to all the trouble to steal our country just to hand it back when they got caught.

We need to follow through, and really put the hammer down. Keep after the lies, keep writing the letters to the editor, keep talking to your friends and relatives. We don't need to convert everyone into a rabid DUer, but let's try to get their vote and get rid of this miserable failure.

17. I think we're at a CRITICAL point right now

Thanks to our Dem candidates and some covering of the debates (think about it, they have blocked our voices off the airwaves for 2 1/2 years)---BUT the big move was when Bush got down into the 50's in numerous polls. Then the whore media began to criticize and he fell more, until this big thud of 45 in Zogby. NOW, we have to get a few more polls in the 40's because I understand that 45 shocked the repukes and they are now afraid he won't make it. If we keep attacking and get more into the 40's, repukes will start fighting him, criticizing, him,etc. and THAT is when he will tank fast. Beware though that if we do not just go nuts on him every day now, this bastard could crawl back out of his hole. He's now stumping the country every fucking day with his military and hand chosen audiences. Hopefully, this time the whores will barely show it on the evening news.

20. You Mean The APPEARANCE of Progress?

It's still WAY too early to celebrate. The cabal is not KO'd yet, not by a long shot. Remember - serious campaigning has not started yet. The vast majority of voters aren't even paying attention. Plus - and this, at least to me, will turn out out to be the most difficult perception to counter - the cabal will say that they have prevented any further terrorist attacks here in the "homeland". I already hear this meme bandied about by regime apologists I'm acquainted with. I can't counter it with any sort of argument. My fear is that the citizenry will latch on to this simple little meme and close their ears to any further discussion of issues.

I REFUSE to get my hopes up at this juncture. The last 3 years have been a psychological nightmare for me (major depression, etc., etc all related to the cabal). I refuse to have my hopes dashed yet again when our pathetic citizenry votes these fuckers in for the first time (again).
