Judge: No delay in Schiavo case
Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 06:27 PM by DearAbby
TAMPA, Florida (AP) -- A judge ruled Thursday that Florida's social services agency cannot intervene to delay the removal of the feeding tube keeping brain-damaged Terri Schiavo alive.

The Department of Children & Family Services wanted a 60-day delay to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect against Schiavo's husband and legal guardian, Michael Schiavo. But Circuit Judge George W. Greer said those allegations and many others had been investigated in the past and found to be groundless. And he ruled that the agency's attempt to get involved at this late stage "appears to be brought for the purpose of circumventing the court's final judgment ... in violation of the separation of powers doctrine."
