I think Dan Rather will get back at Bushco
He's a respected journalist with many chits to pull in. His reputation has been trashed by a bogus claim by Bushco. Tonight will be a polite send off of Dan Rather. A corporate send off. Then Rather will focus on restoring his reputation. I would be afraid, very afraid, if I was a member of this junta. Rather now has nothing to lose and much to gain. He has contacts and friends. I'm looking forward to this one.

1. I wish you were right, but there is really no way he can
He is just going to fade away

The only thing we can hope for is that this neocon administration does something that even his own party can't stomach

9. He will still make news for awhile
Rather knows the media and he wants to restore his reputation. I'm guessing and it's my opinion. I think he will restore his rep and it will make Bushco shudder.

over the TANG documents. 60 Minutes did those excellent pieces last weekend on Tom DeLay and the extraordinary rendition issue. It seems like if anybody at the networks is going to take on BushCo it will be CBS. I've got my fingers crossed.

10. I think so too.
I think now that he doesn't have corporate bosses to answer to and is an independent journalist so to speak, he will emerge as BushCo's worst nightmare.

What was done to him was really below dirty politics and Dan will do what he can to expose this administraton for what they are.

15. Why would he do that?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 08:30 PM by tinonedown
CBS did an internal investigation that led to his 'retirement'. He is 73 years old and was permanently entrenched in last place, network news, for years. Can't anchor forever, especially in last place.
He has stated honestly, in my opinion, that he is non-partisan in his profession. I would not expect him to 'go after' anyone politically. He is class all the way around - not his style.
I salute him for his work and wish him well.
The right wing MSM finished him off.

19. Maybe he can do a few gigs on PBS's NOW
With no offense to Rather, I hope he does something to overcome the apparent lack of energy (depression?)that his characterized his last few months.
