Bush Lies to Media and they abruptly cut him off CNBC
After telling viewers Bush was going to talk about Energy and having all the people behind him carrying signs about $2.00 gas

after expecting him to talk about Oil
Bush instead talked about Social Security and started screaming at the Older people saying Your going to get your checks already

the Network cut him off and apologized for saying it was about oil!!!

Anybody else see it!!!

35. They should have continued to run it.
The man has a vile temper and it would be good for the common American to see him in action.

It's nice to know he's winning the hearts and minds of those he's out schilling to. Nothing like exploding on a bunch of elderly people to show your true colors.

80. He's like a spoiled little kid who isn't getting his own way
Which is precisely what he is except he's not little. Mentally, maybe, but that's about it.

You can just TELL he's gone through life getting effing everything he's wanted-- and bringing down the country, apparently, is his fondest dream.

What a sick freak.

If the official Doctor of the White House is named Theo Morrell, I would start to worry big time.

He's the guy who shot Hitler up with meth every day.

I'm afraid to think what scrub-ya gets for medicine. The rw complained when they said Clinton didn't make his physical public, then we damn well have a case to know what drugs our supreme loser in chief is taking.

Bush's speech was about. They were embarassed and as a result cut off the speech which they told viewers before that he was going to talk about oil.

Don't know if you guys are aware of this but Oil prices are breaking records today.

115. Bush makes videos that you heathens ignore.
Like no other president in the history of our nation, George W. Bush boldly, publicly, and genuinely lives out his faith on the job. According to BBC correspondent Justin Webb, “Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush. The Bush administration hums to the sound of prayer. Prayer meetings take place day and night. It’s not uncommon to see White House functionaries hurrying down corridors carrying Bibles.”

This powerful non-political program offers a never-before-seen insider’s look at how one man’s dedication to prayer and the daily application of God’s Word has transformed his life. His dependence upon God gave him the exact clarity of vision and quiet confidence needed to lead us through the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Witness for yourself George W. Bush’s remarkable journey of faith – from the bar room to the Oval Office – in this behind-the-scenes full-length documentary feature.

Decide for yourself whether President Bush’s faith has been good for America! But whatever you decide, his faith will change and inspire you! 70 Minutes. DVD Contains Many Additional Bonus Features.

54. I think that the era of 'supply-siders' is over. They're wising up to
the fact that demand-side is what drives the economy's engine. The globalizationist multinationals have about run the table but with nobody left in the US, the world's 'designated consumer', able to buy what the world produces, you are in essence running the world's economic engine while you drain it of oil !

Globalization is unsustainable unless some other countries make up for the US consumers' lost consumption !

http://www.globalaging.org/health/us/revolt.htm

For Dan Rostenkowski, D-Ill., then powerful chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, it all boiled over on a hot day in August when he failed to sell the new coverage to elderly activists at a seniors' center on Chicago's North Side. Brandishing canes, some waving signs saying "Rottenkowski," they chased the sweating, panicked lawmaker to his car. When they surrounded his car, he got out and ran down the street.
Within months, Congress had repealed the law.

Bush nearly lost it a week or so ago too, I noticed. He started yelling "Congress needs to do their job!" in reference to SS reform. He was red faced and looked on the verge of blowing.

He cannot handle not being catered to and having his ass wiped. He is such a control freak. Typical sociopathic behavior, no empathy and total control over everyone and everything.

I also agree with those that said, they cut it short to protect Bush.

153. One of the funniest
clips I've ever seen.

What makes it even funnier is that you can see that Bush catches Goss's dawning mirthful incredulity and, struggling not to laugh himself, has to turn his face away, i.e. to his left, Goss being on his right.

I've seen it before and it makes me suspect *'s not technically a psychopath, though an extreme sociopath - which is fairly normal at that level of society. It has seemed to me on such occasions, i.e. when he was telling an enormous whopper, that he really had to struggle not to burst out laughing aloud. It may also, to some extent, explain his fabled smirking.

A psycho believes whatever he says, simply because he says it. It must be right. But it's as if a wee part of the barrier to some residual conscience * seems to have threatens to give way and become a serious breach, opening flood-gates, and completely giving the game away.

Can't be having that, now can we? He did something the other day that was shown on Olbermann. He was asking for...the 20 year old with a question on something or other (I didn't catch it because I was fixing dinner) he apparently repeated it two or three times and was looking a bit desperate until some chubby young man in a suit was identified as the one with the question. It was so obvious he was looking for another planted question.

168. Exhibit A
Republican Honesty
by Chris Bowers

Even the highly scripted moments of Bush propaganda are open to revealing insights:
THE PRESIDENT: Let me ask you something about the Thrift Savings Plan. This is a Thrift Savings Plan that has a mix of stocks and bonds?

MS. WEBSTER: Yes, sir.

THE PRESIDENT: Now, how hard was that to learn how to do that?

MS. WEBSTER: And I chose the safe plan, government bonds. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: That's all right. Well, not so safe, unless we fix the deficit.
Good lord. Not only does this hand picked woman say that she would not invest in one of Bush's accounts because it wouldn't be "safe," Bush himself goes on to say that the US is on the brink of defaulting on its debt because of his insane budgets.

Someone should remind Bush of the 14th amendment to the Constitution.

But the link only talks about him talking about Energy here but thats not what happened when CNBC moved to cover it... He was talking about Social Security and screaming at the older people that they will get their checks

then CNBC pulled and apoogized

But I noticed the AP had a huge article on it... this is very fishy
Anyway I will be really surprised if CNBC shows this again.

If it's as good as described, I'm gonna post it on every other page of my site!
This is the sort of thing we've been waiting for; they're really beginning to expose themselves...
Metaphorically speaking, of course... thank god...
Wonder if we'll hear a peep from the majors tomorrow? The fact that they jumped away from him quick like that, it sure sounds like an attempt at damage control to me...
I've had this terrible sense for the last several years that Bush could slip up and murder a Girl Scout in cold blood, with his bare hands, in the middle of a press conference, just for nothin', just for FUN... and the media STILL wouldn't cover it.
But I'll bet this clip turns up soon enough...
Fingers crossed here... the sweet suspense is killing me...

117. No video, but here's the quote
Even though the speech was titled, "President Discusses Energy Policy," the first third of it was a bunch of BS that had nothing to do with energy.

From the White House web site:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/03/20050309-5.html

I'm going to continue to work on Social Security. Social Security is an important issue. It's an important issue because we've got unfunded liabilities that run in the trillions. This is debt to future generations of Americans. Unless we do something about it, we're not going to be able to pay for it without wrecking the economy. I want all seniors here and seniors listening to know that nothing will change for you. You will get your Social Security check. The government will keep its promise. I don't care about the political rhetoric. I don't care what the flyers may tell you, or the TV ads, you're going to get your check. (Applause.)

121. About the following statement:
"I want all seniors here and seniors listening to know that nothing will change for you."

What the self-absorbed and selfishly short-sighted ones in the WH can't grasp is that seniors want social security to also be there for their children and grandchildren and generations beyond. They want it fully assured, not a crap-shoot.

Bush and Co. really seem to think of senior Americans as grubbing and selfish. Very patronising and most revealing of the mind-set of these moral midgets. The tiniest, most messed up little mind on display being George's.

118. also... is there any precedent for this?
I'm just wondering if there is any sort of precedent for the President of the United States being abruptly cut off by a news organization this way...
They seem to be pretending they pulled him cuz they felt lied to and abused and such... but how in god's name could the network possibly reach such a lightning-fast decision to yank him on those grounds alone?
First, why would they seize so decisively on the conclusion that the White House had purposefully deceived them? Wouldn't they have to wonder if perhaps protesters or a sneaky outspoken citizen or two had managed to change the subject on him momentarily?
And if the WH did misrepresent what he was going to talk about, isn't that news itself? Why would they shut off the cameras and leave, when news is happening right there in front of them?
And If they were truly miffed, and so sure they'd been deceived and all, why didn't they just let the madman rant and rave and dig his own grave, then finish the piece by pointing out how they were misled by the WH on the substance of this talk in the first place?
I mean, I know the answers to these questions... it's obvious the major media journalists write nothing but cover stories...
Still, very gratifying to see the big-wigs, the media hacks and network hotshots all painting themselves into one corner after another lately...

129. Why didn't the network pretape the blivet** speech?
He's well known to be unpredictable, and as noted upthread this is hardly the first time he's been slated to give a speech on an important topic and instead started ranting on an unrelated subject.

So why didn't they just pre-tape it? The White House prefers canned performances by the blivet** anyway, and there would be less chance for embarassment all around that way. I'm guessing the reason why a pretaped speech wasn't made available to the networks is that this was a deliberate mislead by the blivet**' and his handlers, who know the networks wouldn't give major coverage about a rant on his Social Security plan but WOULD cover something of more immediate national interest like oil prices.

So what will the network people do next time the same situation is set up? He's the president and does not tolerate anything he sees as disrespect (translation: insufficient grovelling), so they can't really say they prefer a pretaped speech.

I do think they cut him off because his mask had slipped. People might start wondering about his Godly wisdom if they saw him screaming at elderly people about their SS checks. Even Kool Aid might not gloss that over completely.

Oh, how I hope someone captured that rant on a video clip.

145. Not the first public freak-out for der Fuhrer
I'll apologize in advance for being unable to find the mpeg in my "Fascism" archive - it's become much too unmanageable since November of this "vile year of our Lord" (RIP Hunter). Do any of you recall the aborted "news" conference during the shampaign when Bush was asked something more difficult than "I praise Jesus for your awesome leadership" and stormed off? Some quick-witted tech kept and posted a copy of the aircheck tape - so there wasn't an upcut - and his mic was still on as he stomped by his aides. It's a little garbled but you can hear him shout "get these assholes away from me!" or something close to that. He was in full rant and lashing out at his people in a very imperious fashion. One frightening critter.

This is full coverage a speech he gave yesterday in Ohio. I don't see him screaming anywhere on here. Perhaps the OP or someone else who saw that on CNBC can verify if this was the speech they were cutting to.

Its the second one Bush at Columbus but notice the first one it says for Energy... thats what he was suppose to be speaking of but he talked about Social Security too as well as other pet projects!!!

the CNBC coverage had a close up of Bush at the podium when he says for the second time in a more forceful voice and louder and leaning over the podium
I quote from the video

"Your going to get your checks"

when that clip was seen close up where Bush yells it for the SECOND TIME. that was seen on CNBC

You have to understand the TV audience was waiting for Energy News and we got a clip of Bush yelling about getting your checks for social security

CNBC nicely stopped the video there and apoligized they were told it was for Energy

I didn't mean it to sound like Bush lost it I meant to show how Bush was using the Energy Forum for his own purposes on promoting Social Security

and maybe its me but it was INSULTING to seniors who after Bush goes at the beginning of how Americans need to help their nation out

to make them look selfish by yelling your going to get your checks

turn the volume up when you hear him say that you can hear the anger in his voice

Thanks for finding the clip I thought I was losing my mind or something

If I exagerated the episode I apologize its that I didn't have the benefit of seeing the episode from the distance I saw him screaming it
close up now that I look at the speech in entirety I see now what I saw it was the second atatement...He is trying to be forceful here but to me and maybe my hearings off he came off Angry at the selfish seniors...

Also I admit I am not a Bush lover so I definitely was looking at it with a predjudice eye!!!

I'll just add one more thing
turn the volume up and hear him yell
"Your going to get your check"
Its a different tone of voice!!! than the first time he says it

does he get loud?

Edit: Never mind, I found the part. I'd say it starts at around 9:50 into the clip.

Lol, I guess your Bush filter is set pretty high. :)

He sounded a bit heated and annoyed but it's definitely not Daily Show material.

Thanks for the heads-up, it was interesting.

155. ATTENTION, PLEASE. See post 146
if you want to see the 35 minute speech.

There is no screaming, no popped veins, and he begins speaking about energy 12 minutes into the speech.

It appears lovuian's primary point that CNBC was irked-or pretended to be irked- that someone chose to cut to Bush's "energy" speech, when at the time, Bush was in reality offering up a choice meme in support of the the WH's troubled Social Security plan.

The speech was delivered well, despite Bush becoming drifty near the end and he appeared to temporarily confuse himself when he realised he repeated a phrase unintentionally. I doubt Bush really intends to reduce Mercury emissions by 70%, but that's one of the nuggets that I took in in 35 queasy minutes with George.

There's "no there, there" folks. And there is no point in voting this for greatest if you want the video (we gots it, post 146, and thanks to JohnyCougar.) or if you want to promote the idea that George had a meltdown. ( he did not.)

We'll have to wait for a reporter to ask a real question Bush doesn't expect for any chance of that. ( Don't hold your breath.)

Carry on.

Though I disagree that the speech was done well

Bush came across arrogant and had his Bush Smirk on constantly and it really hurts this coming from Ohio which is the state that put him in the Whitehouse!!!

158. I can see why some people like him,
Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 05:45 PM by Kurovski
and the arrogance is part of it. Some folks like being lorded over, and it gives them a sense that they themselves are lording it over others. The cycle of abuse!

He did well in that he had few stumbles and does know how to connect to his audience. He got special applause when he mentioned Bio-Diesel. (VRROOM! VRROOM!)

He spent more time than the average politician blowing smoke up the ass of the locals, and his followers, gluttons for punishment that they are, lapped it up.

We all know that when an out-of-town politician yams on about local teams and such, it is a pretense, a nicety, but I suspect that crowd feels it means "daddy" Bush really cares for them. It is so much easier than actually investigating what daddy is doing with the dwindling grocery money late at night.

I do think he did a good job on delivery, but I'm functioning on 3 hours of sleep!

and as I re-watch the video, there IS AN EDIT after his statement.

There are a number of edits.

I still think it odd that CNBC cut away. I've seen plenty of coverage of bush speeches where he is just warming up the crowd and they don't bother to cut away because it is "irrelavant" They wait until he gets to it. Why didn't CNBC return to the speech?

Without TIVO of the CNBC program, or a report, or an unedited tape of the speech, it just does not matter.

I'm letting it go now.
