In 1848 300 women gathered in Seneca Falls, New York to work toward getting women the right to vote. It wasn't until August 26, 1920 that the 19th amendment to the constitution gave women the right to vote.
On April 6, 1712 a group of slave rebelled in New York against an oppressive system that treated them as property rather than as a human being. It wasn't until 1965 that african-american finally gained their freedom.
The struggle for human rights is never won quickly or one that is won simply by electing a new president or a new congress. It is the power of millions of people working together to better the world. Don't give up hope in our country. We just must remain vigilant to the cause of bettering all people and we must hold accountable those who would sell us out for their own personal gain.
We must fight for what is ours!!!
