Damn, Never Thought About This (Bankruptcy Bill AND SS Privitization)
So if both the bankruptcy bill AND the social security privitization bill both passed, would the private accounts just be more piggy banks for the predatory credit card companies to raid?

2. Good question.
Isn't it a shame that, instead of discussing such issues as the new bankruptcy law, or social security, we have people who spend their time on threads discussing the horrors of cats getting into their gardens.

We are witnessing the destruction of America's middle and working classes. We style ourselves as Democrats and Progressives. And, instead of these critical issues...we dissipate our efforts and accomplish nothing. It is enough to bring me to despair.

That being said, I'm under the impression that regular retirement accounts are exempt under the soon-to-be signed bankruptcy law. That suggests private accounts would also be exempt.

3. Why should wage slavery end at 65? (or 67, or whatever it is now...)
As it is, Social Security is a "get out of jail free" card, and the corporate masters see all those slacking seniors as wasted resources. It is much better to keep them slaving away over those grills or welcoming customers than enjoying retirement.

4. I don't understand.... could you explain?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 01:16 AM by TrustingDog
if you can't claim bankruptcy and don't have a dime left over, how's that going to fill the predators pockets?

on edit: debtors prison? to make chairs and license plates for corporate profits?

6. No - he's saying, if your payroll tax goes into a private account -
will that be accessible to a lender in event of default?

5. Well sure!!!! If you owe money and retire, they can't garnish any wages or
get money through suing you but the can garnish private income accounts. Everything Bush does is a way to take money from us and give it to corporations.
