Senator Clinton Discusses Election Reform!
Just wanted to let all my fellow DUers know that this morning, Senator Clinton was on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show to discuss election reform, and what she is trying to do w/ some of her colleagues in the Congress. She was VERY eloquent, discussing the need to restore voting rights for convicted felons who have paid their dues back to society, making sure there are adequate numbers of voting machines in every precinct, etc.

If you want to hear the audio of her interview, pls go here:

FYI: She was on there this morning, before the news of President Clinton's new surgery broke.

1. Did she mention "Paper ballots NOW!!! and Hand counts NOW!!!"?
If not then she doesn't have the best solution then does she?

2. Yes she did.
A verified paper trail is like the centerpiece of her legislation, I believe. She always makes the point that we can have a paper trail, just like w/ ATM machines.

I encourage you to check out the interview to hear her full remarks.

3. She's sticking her neck out here
I'm proud of her - that felon voting issue is like red meat to the pub base...but after you've served your time there is no reason why you should not be able to vote. It's just one more example of the right wing needing some people to hate and put down.

4. You're right
The whole issue of felons voting is a hot potatoe doesn't get a lot of discussion, so I admire her courage.

And I agree with her that they should have their voting rights restored! To me, this is not a difficult issue. It's common sense. If they have paid their debt to society, let them fully integrate back into society, i.e. by voting.
