Anybody want to help me respond to a LTTE on taxes?
This is what I am responding to... if you want to submit your own, it's http://www.remindernewspapers.com/Speakout/speak_out.htm
If you want to put in a town, you can choose from Enfield, Vernon or Manchester, CT.

Socialist Society:
The top 50 percent of wage earners pay 96.09 percent of income taxes. I think they deserve a break. The bottom 50 percent is only paying a tiny bit of taxes, so you can't give them much of a tax cut. It would be nice if people realized that all those evil, hate, rich folks are the entrepeneurs that start companies and create jobs for everyone. The government shouldn't have to balance out everyone's income and provide for those who will not provide for themselves. If you want a socialist society, move to Cuba.

Some ideas for my LTTE:
1) The poor & middle class pay the lion's share of the payroll tax, as the rich do not have to pay it on income over $90,000.
2) The overall tax burden falls squarely on the middle class thanks to the Bush tax cuts. Prior to the Bush cuts, the rich paid the most taxes. Now it is the middle class.
3) Small business, not evil rich folks, create most of the jobs in this country.
4) The evil rich folks also make the most use of the American infrastructure.
5) The greatest job creation period in modern American history came right after Bill Clinton raised the income tax rate on the wealthiest and cut taxes on the middle class. Coincidence? I think not.

1. Right, factor in that 40% of FICA that gets robbed
and added in with income taxes.

Also, run the numbers for the top 1% in terms of wealth holdings, income, and percent of overall tax burden when 40% of FICA is factored in.

The rich are getting a free ride, and this letter is pure Astroturf.

Don't the wealthiest 1% hold at least 45% of all America's wealth?

will become embedded, monopolistic, cabals, combines that purposely destroy the transparency & efficiency of the markets in for their own purposes.

We have to get it right this time and be for democratic reforms the world over. The whole world is about to become middle class and they will all have their own myths about how they came to be. What side of the story does the USA want to be on? If you leave it up to the elites & unregulated corporations they will act as they have in the last 50 years and show little consideration for human rights, democratic emergence and freedom. And the world will be one. That will be the story till the end of time. Who should write it - elites or the true leadership of mankind represented by the best & brightests... mediated by organizations like the UN.

Neocons want the world to be remade in their image as 'efficiency experts'with America supreme. This is deluded. And if you attempt for more than 8 years America will have lost its moral leadership, the idea it represents and any hope it ever had of continued reverence.
