What we have here is a
minimum wage increase that was voted down by the republicans at a time when gas prices at the pump in my area have risen about 15 cents a gallon in the past 1 to 2 weeks and, as we keep being informed, is expected to rise another 25 cents in the near future.

I don't think there's any misunderstanding about what's going on here. Do you?

4. Armageddon's OK by Jesse Helms...
as long as he's got John Bolton beside him.

Ahem.

Sen. Jesse Helms on John Bolton: "John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon." Speech at American Enterprise Institute, 01/11/01

The minimum wage increase bill was not what it seemed. Actually there were 2 bills, neither passed... The repukes were sly with theirs though.. check out the thread.

7. Actually, I already knew that there were two bills and that the dems had
voted down the republican version.

I just thought that a side by side comparison of the rejection of the minimum wage and what is a VERY LARGE increase in gas prices was interesting. Also there is the effect that the gas price increase will have on those people whose wages did not go up.
