1. Feinstein is a border line candidate.....
she does not understand that an opposition party is supposed to OPPOSE.

then again she is very wealthy and so's her old man.

West Virgina isn't a rich state and many of Byrd's constituents will be hurt by the new bankruptcy law. One thing about Byrd is that he takes care of the people of West Virgina. I just don't understand his vote today at all.

This is our problem. Democrats cross over to vote with Republicans far more frequently than Republicans cross over to vote with Democrats.

How the fuck are we supposed to be the opposition party if we're always bowing down to these bastards?

And I do believe that they outnumber the credit card people ANYWHERE in this country, and I noticed that Chris Dodd voted against cloture.

I don't need to explain how this travesty of a moral bankruptcy bill beggars and gives lie to American ideal. What I do need is for apologists for meretricious politicians who dare claim to be on "our side" to stop covering their asses (your excuse is the lamest I've ever witnessed, could you AT LEAST pimp his environmental record or his civil rights activities?) and recognize that they are poisoning the Democratic party.

15. I Don't Care About The Histories Of Certain Senators
Or if the outcome may be a dwindling minority.

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for voting to close down discussion on the bill.

Voting for the actual bill I can more easily forgive IF the senators had voted to TRY to put a little KY jelly on the raw broomstick.

But they decided that protecting the reputations of Republicans who were being embarrassed by their votes against certain amemndments like exempting Iraq war veterans or people who went bankrupt due to hospital bills from this moral bankruptcy bill was more important than at least FEIGNING interest for the vulnerable innocents.

I hate litmus tests more than anyone, but this vote is too clear cut. You were either with the corporate predators who already were protected from credit-card abusers, or you were with ordinary Americans struggling to put food on their families.

They made their volition and turned their backs on us, now its time to turn our backs on them.

Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 12:41 AM by Hippo_Tron
In fact, how about we go a step farther. Let's give the GOP 67 seats in the Senate. Not only will they be able to put whoever they want on the Supreme Court, but they can impeach and remove all of the justices that they don't like and replace them with Scalia clones. They can legitimately destroy the US Constitution in its intirety. So while we're at it, let's just get down on our knee's and say "Heil Bush" a few times.

45. And We Wonder Why Ralph Nader Lost His Mind
If the only reason why we vote Democratic is to play defense against Republican ultra-extremism, then the party has outlived its usefulness as far as I'm concerned.

BTW how much are you willing to bet that Ken Salazar DOESN'T turn Ben Nighthorse-Campell on us?

47. Nader was absolutely right
on a growing number of issues, there's not a dime's worth of difference between the parties.

Whether people like to admit it or not, the evidence is pretty clear on that point.

And it should also be clear that it's a losing strategy- why should anyone vote for Republican lite when they can have the real thing?

57. The guy was Colorado's Attorney General as a Democrat
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 07:02 PM by Hippo_Tron
We've seen that Colorado is becoming more progressive ever day. Even if Salazar is worthy of the title "opportunist" it wouldn't be a very good opportunity for him to switch over to the GOP. The retalliation from the Coloroado Democrats would be unbelievable and Salazar himself has proven that a Democrat can win a US Senate race in Colorado.

And I'm sorry, but playing defense is necessary. This country would be MUCH worse off if there were 9 Scalias on the Supreme Court. If you don't agree with that, then you are truly delusional and I am finished arguing with you.

Honestly, sometimes I am reminded of the old saw about wild horses and wild asses. When danger threatens, wild horses put their heads together and kick the crap out of the thing that threatens them. When wild asses are threatened, the put their tails together and kick the crap out of each other.
And Byrd is on that list? I thought his challenges to the BFEE were legendary?
