OMG! A SMART Freeper on Bankruptcy:
I wanted to know that they thought, I looked, I was surprised!

"We should be more focused on the credit card companies forcing people into indentured servitude by imposing a means test on bankruptcy. A ch 13, where they want to send people, is in essence a way to buy back your non-exempt assets from the bankruptcy estate. If a person simply wants to give up the non-exempt assets they go into a ch 7, liquidate via the trustee and its over.

What the credit card companies are doing is essentially extending judgement collection into the bankrupcy by taping into wages.

If credit card companies really wanted to have fun, they should be filing more INvolunary bankruptcies on people in order to force them into federal court. I see that as the next step."

2. Why does he hate America?
Seriously, knowing that the bill will pass, I am thrilled that the Democrats are throwing up all these amendments. The cons are now on the record as being against

--- Elderly debtors keeping their residence
--- Guardsmen in Iraq who lose their incomes- and therefore need to declare bankruptcy
--- Medical debtors
--- Small business
--- Low income Americans

Of course, the cons always were against these people, but the Vichy Dems like Daschle always were worried about offending the Pukes.

Howard Dean will have no such worry.

3. Amen
Just wait until people start losing everything they own and being indentured to MBNA because they had the temerity to have their job outsourced or their kid come up with cancer... I think they'll remember who "reformed" bankruptcy.

Excluding that one person you quoted.....Man.... what a bunch a selfish fascists.. "I don't want to have to pay for some irresponsible...."

For every asshole that says I don't want to have to pay for ___ with MY MONEY...." I say this.... You earned your $$ on the backs of the people below you, your company's vendor's minimum wage earners.., Chinese laborers... PLUS you save tons of $$$ on lower prices for your household courtesy fo Wal-Mart. Get over yourself, this is a society... where money and goods have many services and costs attached.. its not completely yours.... PLUS.... do you want that fire-fighter in Rochester Minnesota to lose his livelyhood and for his neighborhood to go up in flames because they were shortstaffed because YOU selfish asshole want "my money" Put the shoe on teh other foot and shove it.

O yeah and I say back "I don't want to have to pay for a rotten war started with MISINFORMATION which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people with my DAMN MONEY either...." I want it to go to real Clean Air Policies, real educational policies and the best pair of steel handcuffs for Dubya.

6. Did you notice the freeps are talking about advance planning, etc.?
They're already working out how to punk the new law.

Some are self-righteous. Lots are angry. Surprise! Some Freepers are actually acqauinted with real people!

My fave is the guy who claim the Big Crd Co's must be run by DEMS (yup) because freemarket Reeps would never allow such usury on rates, non-disclosure of fees, etc., and phony marketing. Toooooo funny!

7. #s 19 & 20 give me hope:
"Lost your job? That's an opportunity for you to start your own business!!!" /relentlessly-perky-salesman-voice

Remember, the banks and other creditors gleefully socked people with a total of billions of dollars of late fees after the postal service disruptions of 9/11 and anthrax. While companies have a moral right to expect to be paid, they also have a moral obligation to not screw their customers.

I'm all for bankruptcy reform. Just make the rules the same for individuals as corporations and I'm all for it.
