Poll question: Do you support the US's occupation of Iraq?/Syria's occupation of Lebanon?
It suprises me how many people here are defending the latter.

for me: no/no

1. Do you see any difference in the occupations??
The devil is in the details, I suppose. What were the circumstances where Syria went into Lebanon? Was that during a civil war? Give us more details.

2. It is pretty clear that the Lebanese want Syria in there
We should just mind our own business, they know what is right.

3. Talk about a push poll...

more like a "shove" poll.

Why do you take two non-related issues and clamp them together into one poll?

Hey, what about these Lebanese?

4. Syria was invited into Lebanon and there is a timetable for
withdrawal. What's your point?

5. The two cannot be equated.
One is an occupation by a big, historically imperialist power that rings the world with military bases and has demonstrated a proclivity for vaporizing large numbers of civilians in any country that dares to resist its plans for global hegemony, from Vietnam to Iraq to Panama, Dominican Republic, and on and on--the other is by a small Arab country under threat of nuclear seige by Israel, which occupies a portion of its sovereign territory, and has a backward economy and relatively limited military capacity, no foreign bases and so forth.
