Things on the News
I would like to see more news on the news and news channels. Lately things of importance have been getting put at a later time so the news can focus on other stories that I contend should not be dealt with that much. For instance, most of the news channels have been dealing with the release of Martha Stewart. I am not a Martha hater, but I think there are more important issues that should dealt with. In addition, NBC's Today Show reported on the stories of the Micheal Jackson trail and the resigning of the Beoing Chief. Once again I think there are stories that are much more important than these. I would much rather see the news lead off with stories about the intelligence bill or the minimum wage bills. These issues are important not the others.

4. Now now, progress has been made in 2000 years...
It's Bread and TECHNO-CIRCUSES now

Our circuses are the finest EVER devised. Our entertainments are amplified and transmitted by electronic marvels the ancient Romasn couldn't even dream of!

Our Propaganda is the most scientifically designed and tested, exceeding even Nazi Germany in it's Orwellian redefinition of reality.

Please give Imperial Amerika our props, our superlatives.

Never were a weak and slavish eople provided with so many amusements. Never did a Ruling Junta move so slowly towards it's Totalitarian Ends while keeping Opposition Beliefs as a Phony Front and rationale for it's invasions.

OUR Propagandists make Hitler's look like schoolchidren with megaphones! They are true geniuses and masters of their fields.

The Imperial Family and their Cronies are correct. Future generations will study them.

They will study them as we study the Nazis (though we are, it is not to be forgotten, much Kinder and Gentler than they), saying "everything the Bushes did to Amerika was legal" and "how can we make sure something like this never happens again".

5. I felt the same way yesterday
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 08:59 AM by sacxtra
It's almost funny. Except it's true.

Don't forget the Colorado college professor (remember the guy that compared the 911 victims to Nazi's that got all blown out of proportion by the spin meisters) story that Sinclair Broadcasting sandwiched in between the drinking/drunken/steroidz football player story. (A TOTALLY UNRELATED STORY) (At least CH3 KCRA in Sacramento spun it.) They are still trying to drag that professor through the muck again and again. Too bad Sinclair never bothered to GO interview the actual guy. Instead on the 7th March they decided they wanted to Sandwich it in between a totally unrelated story at the same college. Something about football. My mind filtered it out, so I can't remember WHAT the football players did.

How old is that story now? has it been two weeks?

I will draw a picture of how they spun it.

Imagine a SINGLE STORY CLIP/REEL

Topic (Football students go wild)(sandwich the Colorado Professor in)(End and wrap it up with Football students go wild show lots of Beer being poored, lots of alcohol)(End/Fade/Queue Michael Jackson...)

Yeah you are not just imagining it. The news is Corporate owned.

My mind is auto-filtering the news now.

You can BET MONEY. They won't broadcast this either.

6. Keep Watching, Keep Buying, Keep Bitching...
If I had a dime for every person who bitches about what they see or read and then go back and watch more. Or, hate what they see or hear, yet go running out to Home Despot or Wal-Mart or some corporate supporter of this regime and it's deliberate attempts to dumb down/beat down dissent and distort and manipulate the news.

If you look at the ratings, people care more about freak shows than reality as they'd rather laugh at someone else's troubles. People eat this stuff alive and the networks are there to make a quick, easy buck off these viewers. Plus it's easier and cheaper to do this stuff...all you do is read the transcripts, hire 3 or 4 ego-centric laywers and you can draw big ratings, too.

Now, if you have a few billions dollars, or know someone who does, maybe then you could start your own network and parallel universe that could present what you want to see in the way you want to see it. I'm just hoping for fairness and one has to dial far and wide to see that. But the networks appear content that this is what the "public" wants as they keep buying the products, the advertisers keep buying these shows and the "lunatic fringe", like us complain.

Sitting and bitching on message boards isn't going to change things and until the Democrats and others start showing up in their faces, at their doorsteps, at their board of director and investor meetings, boycots of advertisers and a far more vocal and visual display of our numbers and complaints, the sheeple will continue to get what the corporate media makes the most money off of...Breads & Circuses. And this regime is media saavy enough to know how to play this atmosphere and rub it in your face. But keep posting, at least it'll feel good for a couple minutes. You showed them.

9. I Do That
I turned off the Today Show and the TV for a while today. I have switched the channel many times to avoid the Stewart story. I just do not think the story diserves all the attention. I have been turning off the Today Show when they talk about issues that I do not think are worth the time. I do not watch many of the news shows on TV in that they either have large amounts of Republicans or they do not do any good reporting. I stopped watching NBC Nightly News due to Brain Williams' comments about liking Rush Limbaugh and thinking Limbaugh should get more credit. I may start watching CBS Nightly News for a while.

I just would like to see the media spend more time talking about real issues. There is so much going on in Washington that people do not know about like the Corporate tax cut bill. I was reading In These Times yesterday and it is crazy some of the things that were in that bill. People would go crazy if they know what was in that bill.

10. Actually Posting in Blogs is GREAT BRAINSTORMING
And all IDEAS no matter HOW STUPID lead to solutions.

If nobody posted anything, nothing would be discussed.

Although I agree, you should show up in their faces.

Message boards, BBS's, Usenet, Blogs, are an invaluable tool.

12. It's A Starting Point...
Propagannon showed the best and worst of blogs.

It's brought the story out and kept it there. It's also fueled the sideshows this regime has thrown out there...diverting attention from the central issue of media manipulation to "Gannon" and his personal life. Here the blogs have gone along for the ride, now playing tit for tat with his goofy spewings and the story continues to fade from any issues that "mainstream" American can grab onto.

Honestly, I have not seen a solution that's been the product of a BBS or Message board in over a decade of cyberspacing. I've seen a lot of flame wars and grandstanding...interspesed with great ideas but not much networking or coordination behind it.

Boards are great tools to vent some steam and blogs have opened new avenues for different ideas and opinions to be presented, but this has little impact on a vast majority, and upon a culture that is now fed simple, primal, short-term bits of sights and sounds and told to buy it.

11. Exactly, both CBS and ABC gave a 2 sentence 'story' on the
minimum wage bill defeat. Didn't say s**t!! Didn't say that it was the Democrats who claimed a decent minimum wage was "a value issue" nor that the Repubs wanted to make sure no restaurant ever has to pay a 'living' wage!! No vote numbers. Just that wage earners wouldn't be getting any increase. Then a 5 minute story on an Englishman taking over Sony!! Followed by Michael Jackson, Martha, etc.
