Here's an idea.. Everyone EXCEPT republicans pay taxes
Edited on Mon Jul-07-03 12:09 PM by SoCalDem
We get our services from our tax money and they pay for the useage..

pay per mile driven on interstates/city streets
pay per inch/foot of city sewer/water lines to and from their houses
pay "their share" of the cost to build/maintain power plants/gas companies
pay full price for real estate (no more juicy deductions)
pay extra for their gasoline to cover pollution clean up
no more employer paid insurance , they can pay for it themselves (personal responsibility, ya know?)
no more govt aid for THEIR kids at public school
no more food inspections for their food.. they have to buy the uninspected food at the "special stores"
no more low interest govt loans for their kids to go to college
no more fire protection for them...better beat a path to Home Depot & get some more hoses
no more police protection for them.. that's ok, they have plenty of guns to protect them
Better not build that house in a flood/fire/mud/hurricane/earthquake prone area..no federal insurance for you..
no more cheap govt loans for that business of yours..
no more bankruptcy protection...spend some time at the GreyBar Hotel if you can't pay your bills..
no social security or medicare for you.. personal responsibility again..

1. I like the way you think
I'd only add:

Pay for the troops who are overseas "protecting" the US from terrorists.
Pay for cleanup when the inevitable next terrorist strike occurs.

2. I like the way you think too
I read a letter to the editor in our local newspaper that said the generation that went through the depression and WWII are greedy for collecting social security and medicare. He, obviously a republican, thought they should have put more money away for their futures. The idiot did not realize they did not have the money to set aside during those years and sometimes beyond. boy, I hope karma kicks in for him.

3. That's a keeper
and a mass mailer. It reminds me of an episode of Moore's 'TV Nation' about the pukes in Gingrich's Cobb County. They shouted, "Get the federal government off our backs!", while they boated on a federally funded lake in a federally funded national park.

5. Careful
I think that most of the top 5% income earners would take you up on your offer and the federal government would quickly find itself 30%-40% percent poorer. Personally, I'd rather deny them the option and keep their money.

6. methinks you have a point
they would come out far better off under the terms specified.

Many of them are already part of the system. Lets see:

DONE pay per mile driven on interstates/city streets

DONE pay per inch/foot of city sewer/water lines to and from their houses

DONE pay "their share" of the cost to build/maintain power plants/gas companies

DONE pay full price for real estate (no more juicy deductions) deductions are not part of the price of real estate

DONE pay extra for their gasoline to cover pollution clean up

DUE no more employer paid insurance , they can pay for it themselves (personal responsibility, ya know?)

DUE no more govt aid for THEIR kids at public school

NOPE no more food inspections for their food.. they have to buy the uninspected food at the "special stores" and who owns the special stores and who do they buy from ? no way

DUE no more low interest govt loans for their kids to go to college

DUE no more fire protection for them...better beat a path to Home Depot & get some more hoses

DONE no more police protection for them.. that's ok, they have plenty of guns to protect them already works that way around here

DUE Better not build that house in a flood/fire/mud/hurricane/earthquake prone area..no federal insurance for you..

DUE no more cheap govt loans for that business of yours..

NOPE no more bankruptcy protection...spend some time at the GreyBar Hotel if you can't pay your bills.. that hurts a LOT of not so rich people

NOPE no social security or medicare for you.. personal responsibility again.. all they want os to opt out of SS !

9. The people who pay taxes do NOT have to pay extra
they have the bankruptcy protection, LS..

It's just the greedy (mine, all mine!) repukes who have to pay as they go for EVERYTHING...

10. I keep saying this to Libertarians

They don't seem to understand the term "economies of scale," no matter how many times you explain it to 'em. I actually wrote a three-part series of articles about it, called (unironically enough) "Why I Like Paying Taxes," and ALL my arguments were economic. :)

On edit: The billing logistics alone for this sort of scheme would be precisely nightmarish enough to create entirely new *industries*.

My inner fascist says that Republican/right-winger ghettos might not be a bad idea, but really, what kind of forced labour could one expect from them? ;-)
