Storm clouds gathering for '08 election
On AAR yesterday, heard interview with Anna Quindlen (I think). They speculated about the '08 dem candidate. A guy from the east coast governor "Warner" is thought to be the emerging candidate. Hillary, Dean et al were written off. Hillary, they said, with a 40% approval rating would draw a vast right wing conspiracy the likes of which we cannot fathom if she is elected. This morning on MTP, heard them say some repugs are offering to finance Hillary's run in '08. You KNOW she's fucked. AAR guest said she'd probably becomme the first female majority leader but not the prez. (The VRWC would stop her just to keep the Clintons from making history as husband and wife presidents--they can't stand greatness since they have none in their ranks.)

1. You mean "Dont Ask Dont Tell" Warner? No thanks.
Hillary should not be written off. She is a great campaigner and her speeches at Dem rallies are very compelling. She's been THROUGH the vast right-wing conspracy; what else is there to dig up or manufacture about her?

2. Plenty.
The same old shit will come up, too, and this time it will stick. They have control of the governemtn and the media, something they didn't have in the 90s when they first tried to paint the Clinotns as murderers. Hillary needs to play a big part in SUPPORTING the eventual nominee, not being said nominee.

They will definitely attack her record...you can bet they are
burying bill inside of bills just so they can say she didn't vote for this or that. I think that's one of the reasons dems often appear so impotent, they know they have to protect their records if they are going to run for office.

3. Hillary will raise more money than anyone
and therefore should not be discounted. Clark and Kerry will also be back. Should be interesting.

4. new blood
it has to be NEW blood.

i will NOT vote for the same old, same old. the same old democratic elite has put it's own political survival over the safety of the nation, resulting in what we are having to deal with right now.

i will not reward stupid, greedy selfishness. and that is all they have displayed.

the democratic party needs a MAJOR blood transfusion. if it takes every single democratic politician to be defeated, so be it. all they do now is just "go along". if i wanted republican, i'd vote republican.

maybe americans need to deal with the horrors of an entire supreme court appointed by bush before they will realize the gravity of the situation.

once the republicans are that powerful, they would be unable to stem their own greed for control of every aspect of our lives.

maybe then americans could tear themselves away from idol/survival/lost/whatever long enough to research their voting options.

one can dream, can't one?

8. I don't think it makes sense to throw out every democratic
candidate because the government has been taken over by a kabal that has muffled them and made them look weaker than they may be. Yes we need to reorganize, to find a common ground but at one time so did the current crooks running this country.

9. They don't just "go along". They are currently uniting against
Bush's social security agenda. MTP this morning was very interesting. They've said they refuse to negotiate with Bush until he takes privatization off the table. They used the right language, they are united. The repugs looked as weak as they really are.

7. That's true...they will. I thought it was interesting that they'd
reached this conclusion so early. Of course we all know they want Hillary to retreat and they will be relentless until the election in trying to smear her.
