The ACLU seems to be working to get all the paper punch ballot
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 05:37 PM by morningglory
voting machines in California replaced with "modern" touch screen systems. I fly around here on the forum and may have missed something or misinterpreted, but that seems like the last thing we need. Am I confused? Pardon me, but I am over 50.

1. That's exactly what they are doing
Here's the bottom line....

After the Florida fiasco, the civil rights organizations sued in almost every state saying that punch card machines disenfranchised black voters.

They were right. Punch card machines disenfranchised MANY voters of all color.

Courts ruled that they WERE right and ordered that elections be held differently. The courts set a deadline for that to happen. We've passed that deadline.

However, we've gone from the frying pan into the fire with the electronic voting machines and the civil rights organizations aren't willing to admit that.

I had an Atlanta civil rights lawyer tell me he couldn't do the Georgia voting machine case because he had brought the suit to rid Georgia of punch card machines.

When I asked him why he couldn't take the case when the cure was worse than the disease, he refused to answer me.

8. And THAT is the biggest tragedy of this whole issue...
John Conyers is one of the Left's best friends in Congress - and here he is arguing 14 months ago for rapid passage of the HAVA and for the rapid implementation of said act.

It's enough to make a grown man cry. :(

BTW DA: I'm working on your request, but person in question is on sabbatical so I left messages everywhere and I'm waiting for a call back.

5. Go become a "familiar face" in your county election office...
Walk in like you own the place, because you do.

7. AND into the local ACLU office
with Jim March's CD and SHOW THEM what they are advocating.

Jim March has prepared a CD demo of hacking an election, full instructions provided. All you have to do is take the CD into the office and ask them to open it.

Get the files here: http://www.equalccw.com/voteprar.html Burn a CD and GO!

6. We should try to get some media interested.
I don't know where you live, but if you live in LA, the local channel 2 news (CBS)seems to be always airing things that are embarassing to public officials and they have succeeded in changing things many times once a situation got on the air.

Also, we should send this information to Robert Scheer a columnist who often is featured in the editorial section of the LA Times. I don't know where to reach him though. He is a liberal, very critical of the Bush administration and I know he is a Californian because he has written and published extensive criticism of the recall. He would love something like this.

16. I emailed some of BevHarris's threads on the SLO county
voting machine irregularities to our local fish wrapper and they did a story on it, I just read on another thread. So guys, the media will be our friend in this once the information gets out. It works!
