I am Extremely impressed with Jerry Springer on the radio
I was a little pissed off when they put Jerry Springer on here in Albuquerque because I thought he would give Democrats a bad image however listening to him he is wonderful with how he handles people who disagree with him. No matter how BIG the disagreement Jerry respects them tells them he understands where they are coming from lets them make their points then he makes his points. The other person is often hot when they first call in but by the time Jerry is done with them, they may still disagree but you can tell their is a mutual respect that is developed through out the conversation. When the call is over the caller often thanks Jerry for his respect and it's just very refreshing to see people who are so far apart on the issues still respect one another in the end.

This is what a democracy is supposed to be about! Disagreeing with one another but still respecting one another. Rush Limbaugh and even many of the other talk people on Air America tend to take the route of shouting down the other side and not showing them ANY respect. In my opinion this does nothing but tear both sides apart and FUCKS up the country. In my opinion Jerry Springer and Ed Schultz are the best at treating each caller with respect. Sometimes Ed will loose it but he always apologizes after he does loose it. Even Al Frankin makes the mistake of saying he "hates" certain Republicans. Name calling is not an argument and does nothing to help us make our point in a way that it will be received and considered.

People in the middle I am sure listen to many different talk shows and if they tune into Springer and Schultz I think they are much more likely to be impressed with the temperament of the left as compared to Rush, O'Reilly and Hannity.

2. I heard Springer at the YD conference in 2003. I was impressed by
him. Too bad he tarnished his image so badly with his tv show.

3. Jerry was on Randi Rhodes show a
number of times when she was still just local in West Palm Beach.

He is a very smart man and a real liberal.

I have caught his radio show a few times and really enjoy it.

4. I think he's learned this from his TV show
Springer has a lot of, um, 'unusual' guests on his TV show, some of them pretty nasty. I'm sure it takes a lot for him to keep his cool there. And that experience is coming in handy on his radio show as well.

5. He's great when he isn't pitting obvious Bush voters against one another.
I guarantee you everyone who has ever started a fight on Springer voted for Bush.

7. Being nice to republicans will never work! Look at congress..
I haven't heard his radio show, but I'm sure like most liberals he can back up what he's saying with facts. I prefer the Malloy approach, put the idiots in their place.

10. True but it's the swing voters who tune in that I am concerned with
The far right will always be the far right but those in the middle are the people who can be swayed. I think Springer and Schultz and it sounds like Hartman are doing that.

I like Malloy as well. He cracks me up.

11. radio is a little different
i like that all of the liberal hosts I have heard so far are always polite and willing to listen when a freeper calls in. They let the freeper try to make an argument in support of his position. Then the lib hosts usually make mincemeat of them pretty quickly.

I think this is good because it allow us to debunk their crap after letting them express their point of view. I think it is a form of teaching for non-liberal and non-educated (in spin) radio listeners.

We win converts with this method.

13. Yeah, we don't get him here in New Orleans either, so I listen to the
Radio Power stream... usually a repeat from the day before.

By the way, my dad just got back from Albuquerque last Sunday (my mother's family is from Alomogordo). He said the gang violence is incredible. When he lived there back in the 60s while serving as an officer in the Air Force (SAC), he said it was completely different then. I haven't been to the Northern part of the state for decades... I'm sad that it has changed so much.
