Education is the silver bullet
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 09:56 AM by DiverDave
"Education is the silver bullet. Education is everything. We don't need little changes. We need gigantic monumental changes. Schools should be palaces. The competition for the best teachers should be fierce. They should be making six-figure salaries.
School should be incredibly expensive for government and absolutely free of charge to its citizens, just like national defense."

“SIX MEETINGS BEFORE LUNCH”

I searched for that quote, because I, too, am a better person because of teachers.

An educated person is less likely to commit violent crime, less likely to abuse their kids and SO's, less likely to do drugs and alcohol to excess.
They DO get higher paying jobs, which helps the tax base where they live, they purchase more products, which in turn, helps to keep people working, and adding to the tax base where they live.

All from a well educated populace...It's a dream, all of it, but a good dream, worth fighting for.

1. We would do better spending money on education than anything
else in this country.
Right now our education system is failing us! Our children are the big losers in bu$h's world.
Not only are they not getting the education they deserve, they are going to suffer endlessly as a result of the entire bu$h regime and their policies, foreign and domestic.

3. Very true.
Why do you think bush wants to cut so much from education in order to fund his tax cuts and wars? Tyrants love an uneducated populace... MUCH easier to manipulate.
