ME almost total chaos - is this what PNAC planned?
Lebanon seems to be coming to order, but Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Syria all in complete upheaval. Is this by design?

1. It's a lot easier to steal when it's mass chaos.

nt.

2. It's something like what bush is doing in America. He has put
us in crisis so he can apply his remedy. Cause chaos/a crisis then exploit it. A recession is a crisis to those out of work. Business exploits this crisis by taking power and money away for workers under threat of losing their jobs.

3. Don't bet on Lebanon "coming to order"--they haven't formed a new
government yet, and the Hezbollah leader Nasrullah is wildly popular in the South and won't let the US meddle without a fight.

4. Ummm ... Syria and Iran aren't in upheaval.
They're as stable as ever. If you value stability, this is a good thing; if you're risk averse, this is a good thing.

Iraq's a wreck, and Afghanistan's been both better and worse. Palestine ... well, leave that for I/P. If you value stability, this is a bad thing; if you're risk averse, this is a bad thing.

Progress is dependent on a certain lack of stability.

Progress requires change. True, not all change is good. But in the ME, any change tends to beget a bit of chaos. Chaos is, well, chaotic, and while certain folks may have plans, chaos tends to impart chaoticity to everything it touches--including their plans. To that extent, the chaos allows progress if the people there take advantage of it.

I'm not sure anybody could predict that thousands of Lebanese would take to the streets with enough certainty to call it a "plan."

5. In a word, "Yes."
This is what is all about. Chaos. Chaos is a cover for many evil deeds going under the radar.
