Missile rejection perplexes U.S
Cellucci compared the situation to one that occurred during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. He noted that it was a Canadian general at Norad who scrambled military jets under orders from Bush to shoot down a hijacked commercial aircraft headed for Washington.

Had that plane been flying over Canada, it would have fallen to the prime minister to make the decision to shoot it down, Cellucci said.

That's why Americans were "perplexed" as to why Canadians would want to leave it up to the Americans to decide what action to take in the event a missile was aimed at Canada

I had know idea a Canadian general at Norad scrambled jets under orders from Bush... I did not here this in the 9/11 commision so technically Canadians could have been ordered to shoot the flight down

4. Exactly. And the US is going to shoot Korean missiles down
from Alaska (fastest way to USA is over the arctic). They are not going to ask us if they can shoot a missile aimed at Washington DC down over the Arctic. They are going to do it.

Why humiliate ourselves and pretend we are sitting at the table. We will have no say about anything at the table. We don't want to make ourselves targets. We may like to leave an opening for our Innue & Inuit to sue someone's ass if the nuclear missile hits the arctic. We don't want to waste the money. If it seems like a good idea in a decade, maybe we will join. Now - the USA is a rogue nation and we don't want to stand too close.

And if you get all your information from your own delusion of grandeur feedback loops and not from anywhere else on earth then reality it going to keep bitch-slapping you. Oh and I listened to the radio and all the retired Canadian diplomats who have been given plumb & cushy board directorships in USA Subsidiaries were calling up on the radio and saying: I don't understand! Sorry but I would prefer to listen to someone who is not making $100,000 a year in he only 'thinks like a corporate boy' on my radio. I'll listen to the average person. I’ll listen to someone who isn’t bought and paid for. And they complain our PM is being political. Like he has a choice? Shame on him for paying attention to the will of the people.

I think we should take a pass on pretty much EVERYTHING THE USA ASKS FROM US UNTIL THE SOCIOPATHS ARE GONE. Because your government pretty much makes up ‘reality’ as they go along.

7. Your comment reminds me of the film "platoon"
Where the "bad" guy walks in to the pot smoking refuge, and says "Y'all
smoke this shit to excape from reality? Me I don't need that shit....
I *AM* reality." It seems these drunken scum in washington think
similarly that they "are" reality.... and i agree... just ignore them
until they die... sorta like waiting for an evil king to die.

11. Does this ring any bells?

Canada can bury its head in the sand all it wants and pretend that it doesn't need NMD, but we don't live in a pre-9/11 world anymore.

We need missile defence. Without missile defence, terrorists were able to fly planes into the World Trade Center and place a Ryder truck full of explosives in front of a federal building in Oklahoma City. It won't be long before the terrorists realize it's true enemy is savage Canadian imperialism. So don't come crying to Uncle Sam when Al Qaeda decides to drop 100 megatons on the next Calgary Stampede.

3. Canada took in
Edited on Tue Mar-01-05 03:15 AM by Maple
all the aircraft that were forbidden to land in the US that day.

Hundreds of em.

Any one of them could have harboured more terrorists.

Our PM gave the order to shoot down any of them that suddenly deviated from their flight path.

We are quite capable of looking after 'hostiles' all by ourselves.

PS. Paul Cellucci please go home.

6. and * blew Canada off when he was thanking
all the countries that came to our assistance after 9-11.

If I recall, it was shortly after that that one of *'s henchmen told Canada to increase the percentage of GNP it dedicates to defense.

Somebody really ought to take * aside and explain the meaning of the word "sovereignty."

Umm, yeah, because it's certainly worked well in test cases for god's sake!

Leave it to those darn Canadians for not wanting to pump money into a failed experiment - the nerve!

13. When was the last time Canada was attacked?
You don't need extremely expensive and questionable defense systems if you have no enemies. America on the other hand has almost nothing but enemies. It is because we are so much more free than Canadians I am sure. Our foreign policy has absolutely nothing to do with it.
