1. I know there are protests planned for 3/19...
But there must be more than that we can do.

3. Agreed! But what? I seems to me that we would have to do something on
a grand scale to get any publicity. So, why not? As awesome as it was to see the protestors at the Inauguration, the MSM was so busy beating the "Rah, Rah" drums they failed us miserably, AGAIN! In a local paper, some junior high kids went and they said that the highlight was the HUGE amount of protestors at the parade! They called it "inspiring"...maybe we should think about "inspiring" once again! Remember when they had those HUGE protests up in Seattle a few years ago? I'm thinking tens of thousands of CONCERNED AMERICANS standing united in DC! Have I lost my mind?

33. happy to help and I'll add your banner to my site

this weekend, I'm going to redo my LINKS so that my performance friends have a page and my Political/Activism have their own.

it's filling up quickly! (good thing)

and good luck with this. IMHO, nothing is more important than addressing the problems with the MEDIA!

34. Thanks, but I don't work for them, I just found it the other day...
...and think that this is the KEY issue to beat these RW bastards in 2006, 2008 and beyond.

They DO have a bunch of different size Link/ads on this page <http://www.freepress.net/link/>

From little ones like this

to full size banner ads. They even have the HTML pre-written, so all you have to do is copy and paste.

I'm not sure if this is the same organization as "The Free Press" web site, but they have this link <http://www.freepress.org/> that goes to both, maybe because of confused web surfers.

29. I hope not, I'm taking my 14 year old son and his friend
but I will be wearing all of my husband's NYC fire dept sweatshirts/jackets on the boys, and I will be holding a big sign that says:

Disabled FDNY
9/11 - 52 Warnings???
Impeach Bush

Any suggestions for other clever signs, please feel free to reply. And if you all think it will really be dangerous, I will still go, but NOT take the kids. Thanks,

Adi

21. What will it take? IMO...The draft right here, right now.
That would no doubt wake up a helluva lot of people!

I'm glad that you posted this thread because for some time now I've been feeling that we need a MASSIVE protest. Problem is-this country is so damn big most people can't afford to travel more than a few hundred miles, otherwise it gets quite expensive with time off from work, airfare, meals and lodging. While I'm fresh out of good ideas...hopefully others will post some good ideas on this thread!

7. Because they "REALLY" have a "Free Press," unlike here...
where we SAY we have a "free press," but we no longer do, if we ever really did. And they, no longer have government that throw protesters into prisons like "GITMO" and then label them "Terrorists."

Plus, Countries like Belgium or Germany, are small enough that you can drive to any part of the Country, in 1 or 2 hours.

Think back, do you remember the people of the U.S.S.R. having big "Protests" with the cloud of the KGB and the Government controlled "Pravda" as the MSM, hanging over their heads?:smoke:

11. Our freaking "media" doesn't cover them.
People travelled thousands of miles last fall, protested their hearts out, got arrested, and what happened? They were ignored. The media pretended it didn't happen -- and that one, the RNC, was the most successful. People are exhausted: we feel like we might as well be screaming all alone in our basements.

In Europe, at least your friends can see you on TV -- at least you feel like you're making a difference.

In spite of this, there ARE protests every day in this country.

14. Oh wow...this is so frustrating! People are so afraid of these bastards.
The media is supposed to protect us from government propaganda. Instead, they have protected themselves. The media has helped CREATE THIS MADNESS! Perhaps we should LOUDLY protest their BETRAYAL to the American people! Maybe show up in Rockefeller Center? Demand Accountability? Maybe if we start with them first...

15. It would have to somehow involve lots of people.
Maybe piggyback on some other event where people already are? Otherwise we'll stay stuck on the laziness/apathy problem.

Some clever "stunt", maybe involving high-tech somehow, would get noticed, if only in the "Style" section.

17. Maybe we have been doing it all backwards? How about the MEDIA?
Something simple and easy to grasp...DO YOUR JOBS! END THE BETRAYAL! If we target the media and if, for some miracle, we can sway them...then we go after Shrub! If we can EXPOSE the betrayal, then perhaps the MSM will become a vocal ally. I don't know- just brainstorming out loud!

19. it won't do any good
They protest so that their government will stop cooperating with him or continue to not cooperate with him. It doesn't do anything for us other to give windbag RWers an excuse to say, "look how the left doesn't support our troops"

Once in my hometown, once in NYC, and I almost did in Green Bay. I was there on business, and he was gonna pop in to tell a few lies at Lambaugh field. I did get a chance to encourage some of those who were there to protest his dumb ass.

26. Protests are not effective.
they merely add fuel to the Fascists.

What this country needs is reps who actually represent the Middle Class, The Working Poor and the Poor. So far, the Dem Pary is FAILING in that regard.

Until we have reps that have power in Congress that actually represent the above mentioned instead of Corps., no amount of protests will chang a Damn thing.

27. Because nobody else cares about it and the media won't cover it
If indeed there is coverage of it, it will be highly selective for apparent radicalism, ensuring that the movement is further marginalized in public perception.

It sure as hell doesn't matter to Bush, because he figures he's got his silent majority, and he doesn't have to run for office again.

All i see is a bunch of excuses. Use your contacts from before the election, reorganize and mobilize.

There will be protests all over the country (and the world for that matter) on March 19. Check out http://www.unitedforpeace.org/ to find a protest near you.

30. Wait a minute! What were the inauguration protests--chopped liver?
Okay, I know... yes, I would like to see tens of thousands of us in the streets EVERY time he so much as moves.

But we shouldn't sell democrats and other Bush-nonbelievers short! That was a FINE set of protests they enacted in D.C. in January!

The bastard has gotten "elected"... at least, so it seems. So we have to sit here growing frustrated, watching the drip drip drip of the scandals and glaring mistakes of his "administration". But keep your eyes peeled! There is a growing split in the repukelican party over immigration... let's nurture it along whenever we can! The repukelican party must be destroyed, and the ground salted under it!
